Floating Wave Hamburg is moving forward.
The planning and building permit documentation has now been submitted after close coordination between designers, engineers, authorities, city utility planners, and the client team, including Felix Segebrecht and the team at Floating Wave, together with the Hamburg Port Authority.
Floating Wave is a true hybrid project. The floating steel pontoon follows marine regulations, while the superstructure and interiors comply with local German building codes. Aligning both worlds is where our experience on water and on land comes together.
As Hamed Fazeli, Architect at MEYER Floating Solutions, shares:
“Smooth cooperation between stakeholders from very different backgrounds made it possible to repurpose an underused harbour area into an active place on the water.”
Approval is expected no earlier than April 2026, with opening targeted for 2027. More to come.
