This is the side of the house that matters most.

Casa Estrella was shaped by its orientation to the bay. Rather than forcing symmetry, the architecture responds to light and sightlines, opening the home toward the water. Deep overhangs shade the upper terrace, and a wide glass wall opens the kitchen straight onto the lawn, the seawall and the dock.

On a compact lot, every wall has to earn its place.

Casa Esperanza sits on a modest urban footprint, so this kitchen does two jobs at once. Floor-to-ceiling wood cabinetry carries the storage, while a slim window runs the length of the counter and brings the garden in at eye level. The warm lighting tucked into the ceiling’s edge softens the whole room after dark.

Small decisions like these are a big part of why the house feels more expansive than its lot.

A calm room is rarely an accident.

In Casa Estrella, micro-cement surfaces soften the transition between wall and ceiling, and frameless doors and baseboards remove the lines that usually interrupt a room. The architecture becomes a quiet, continuous backdrop.

That quiet gives everything else room to stand out: the framed headboard, the sculptural lamps, the gold-toned nightstands. When the architecture and the interiors are designed together, neither has to compete for attention.

Not every outdoor space needs a view.

Some of the most restful places in a home are the ones that turn inward. Here, tall white walls close out the street, a slatted pergola softens the sun without blocking the sky, and the sound of water runs in from one corner of the pool. Even the bench sits in its own alcove, a room within the room.

In a city where so much of life happens in public, we love designing spaces that are entirely private. No neighbors, no noise, just light, water and a quiet place to sit. 🤍

Coral accents, terrazzo and warm wood: Villa Camila borrows its textures from South Florida’s architectural lineage.

Here, that means natural materials set against clean-lined volumes, and a deep overhang that keeps the windows in shade through the brightest part of the day.

In Miami Shores, Villa Ferroni stays on a single story, and that humble scale is the point.

Look closely and you’ll see two Miami traditions meeting. The rhythm and proportion come from Spanish Colonial architecture, right down to the clay tile roof. The softness comes from mid-century modern: the curved lines, the long horizontal profile, the breeze-block screen that lets air through while filtering the sun.

Neither one is copied. They’re balanced, so the house feels rooted here without feeling like a period piece.

That’s the difference between building in Miami and building for Miami.

In an open plan, nothing gets to hide. The kitchen, the living room, the bar and the stair all share one view, which means every line, every ceiling detail and every cabinet edge has to agree with the others.

That kind of precision is easier when the people designing a home and the people building it are the same team. At Blanco, our designers work directly with project engineers and our construction crews, so decisions are tested against how they’ll actually be built before they ever reach the site.

For the homeowner, that means one team to talk to, fewer handoffs, and faster answers when something changes mid-build. Because something always changes mid-build.

In Miami Shores, Casa Costa reads like it was always a two-story home. It wasn’t.

Before a second level could go up, the structure underneath had to change. The original wood-joist slab came out, and reinforced concrete went in to carry what was coming.

The harder part was proportion. A second story can easily make a house feel top-heavy, like something stacked on top of it. Here, the goal was the opposite: an upstairs that feels like it belonged all along.

The most important work in this house is the part no one photographs. You just walk up the stairs.
