To the People of Venezuela
Our hearts are with Venezuela.
In a matter of seconds on Wednesday night, two earthquakes tore through Caracas, La Guaira, and communities across the country. Buildings that held families, memories, and entire lives were reduced to rubble. Hundreds have been killed, thousands injured, and far too many remain trapped or unaccounted for as we write these words.
We see the people of La Guaira digging through concrete with their bare hands to reach their neighbors. We see strangers becoming rescuers, families refusing to give up hope, and a nation holding one another through an unimaginable night. The pain is immense. So is the courage.
To every Venezuelan grieving a loved one, searching for someone still missing, or facing the morning without a home: you are not alone. We grieve with you, we hope with you, and we stand with you.
To those leading rescue efforts and to the international teams arriving to help: thank you. Every life pulled from the rubble matters. Every hour counts.
Venezuela has endured so much, and still its people answer tragedy with solidarity, faith, and an unbreakable will to care for one another. That spirit will carry this country through the dark days ahead.
We hold the Venezuelan people in our hearts today and in the long road of recovery to come.
