Three controls, one airplane. Inside our Cessna 172, the yoke does most of the work. Turn it right and the ailerons roll the wings that way; turn it left and everything reverses. Pull the yoke back and the elevator lifts the nose so the airplane climbs. Push it forward and the nose comes down. Then there are the rudder pedals on the floor, which move the rudder on the tail and keep the airplane stable and coordinated through every turn.

Understanding how these three work together is one of the FIRST LESSONS every student pilot learns, and with practice it becomes SECOND NATURE. Which control would you want to try first?

A quick reminder for anyone preparing for the Instrument Rating or Part 107 knowledge test: the FAA’s updated testing format begins OCTOBER 27.

The passing score and number of questions are not changing, but some questions may now include chart images that are not found in the testing supplement. That means understanding how to read and interpret the material will matter even more than simply memorizing a question bank.

If you’re already prepared and planning to take the test soon, this is a good time to review your timeline and decide whether taking it before the CHANGE DATE makes sense for you.

Full breakdown is available on our blog. Link in bio.

Valentina left Colombia with a goal that felt far away at the time: to build a career in aviation and one day fly for AVIANCA.

Over the years, she became not only a student but also a flight instructor and a valued part of the Aviator Zone Academy family. Today, she returns home to begin a new chapter with the airline she set her sights on from the very beginning.

What makes this moment even more special is who placed her wings. Her father, a veteran Airbus captain with AVIANCA, had the honor of pinning them on himself. A proud milestone shared between a father and daughter, connected by the same profession and the same passion for flight.

For every student currently working toward a goal that may seem distant, let Valentina’s story be a reminder that BIG DREAMS are reached one step at a time. The path is rarely easy, but dedication, patience, and commitment can take you farther than you imagine.

Valentina, we are truly PROUD of all you’ve accomplished and grateful that part of your journey was spent with us. We wish you continued success in this WELL DESERVED chapter of your career.

Leila Benitez reached a moment every pilot remembers: her FIRST SOLO FLIGHT. After putting in the time, focus, and preparation required in flight training, she took the controls on her own and demonstrated the confidence and judgment that make this achievement so meaningful.

Watching students reach milestones like this is one of the most rewarding parts of aviation. Congratulations, Leila, on a WELL DESERVED accomplishment and an important step forward in your training journey. We look forward to seeing what comes next as you continue building experience in the cockpit.
