The Stand, coming soon in Coal.

We are preparing a large order for a special client who had a new color request. We’re liking the look! After this run is wrapped, we will start offering The Stand in this handsome, matte Coal. Seal down the blackout shades, banish the light from your hibernation chamber and watch The Stand disappear into the darkness behind the soft glow of your StandBy clock.

Here’s an inside look at our business prepping an order for shipping. When you receive a package, everything that went into it seems obvious. When you’re preparing your own, you quickly realize how easy it is to forget something. So, creating a process and a checklist is essential. As you can see, even making the checklist include everything is a process! 🤪 It should definitely still be revised to a numbered list with ordered steps, since applying our seal before adding everything to the box is a thing that can (and did 🙈) happen. The learning never stops. 😄
Enjoy your weekend, everybody!

Stickers for daaaayz! 🥳

Pro tip for small businesses:

Find a Makerspace for printing all your promotional materials at cost! Our favorite one happens to be Spark Place in Xenia. 😉
You have to do the work, but hey—what’s one more job on top of the 5,000 others you’re doing? 😆

Check out production run number one in progress!

It’s kind of eerie watching the X1Carbon operate in the dark, printing pale figures. Bit of a Westworld vibe, no? 🙃

Seam placement is often an afterthought in , but it can be critical to achieving a smooth and blemish-free surface finish. Seams are an all but unavoidable part of FDM 3D printing because the nozzle must start and stop extruding at some point on each layer, creating an imperfection where extrusion cannot be started/interrupted instantaneously.

Here, we’ve used “seam painting” when slicing the model to locate the seams intentionally in places where they are either invisible or feel natural. In the first image, we’re experimenting with an intentional, centered seam (shown as white dots) and located along crevices.

The second and third images show the painted line in green, which tucks the seam out of sight, inside the cable channel of The Stand.

Drilling down through the layers to reveal a trick hidden inside The Stand! With additive manufacturing technology, we can create an internal structure of variable density. This gives the object more weight, rigidity, and support wherever necessary to create a smooth and consistent surface finish. 👌

Happy weekend, everybody! Enjoy the views of a few of the prototypes we’ve been cranking out lately. It’s been fun experimenting with this design! It may even fork into two products since there are things we like about each of the various incarnations of these MagSafe StandBy mode stands.

See if you can find the version that had to be torn apart with pliers to remove the MagSafe puck. Just a minor oversight in that design. 🤣

For the past few weeks, we’ve been working on prototyping designs for a MagSafe-compatible phone charging stand. We proudly present to you the latest in our lineup. Its smooth curves and wide base make it both pleasing to the eye and functionally stable. The MagSafe charging “puck” is held securely with a press fit design afforded by our tight design and additive manufacturing tolerances.

We’ll follow up shortly with more content giving you a behind-the-scenes look into how we got here and plenty of second guessing about whether this design is headed in the right direction. 😅

We’d love to hear what you think! Based on your feedback, we can release multiple versions to satisfy a variety of individual aesthetic preferences. Such is the advantage of products. 😊

This prototype was designed in Autodesk Fusion360 and manufactured on a Bambu Lab X1-Carbon.

Val’s Bakery has a beautiful La Marzocco Linea Classic espresso machine—and they use it to great effect, creating the BEST lattes in Dayton. Sadly, the original caps that had covered the ends of the steam k***s were lost. Replacement caps are quite expensive and impersonal to boot! We were very happy to get the opportunity to design and manufacture custom caps to fit this need exactly while adding a branded flare to an already gorgeous part of the café.

We’re honored to have helped Val’s bring a personal touch to this classic machine.
