Our Quinnesec Mill is proud to welcome its two newest recipients of our E&I Scholarship—CJ (Norway High School) and Christian (Niagara High School)!

This scholarship is for area graduating seniors wanting to pursue a career in Electrical & Instrumentation. Since launching in 2019, this program has continued to grow, with 11 full-time technicians on our team who started right here.

The program supports the next generation of skilled trades by offering up to $12,000 in tuition, fees, and books, paid summer employment during schooling, and a pathway to full-time careers with Billerud. Participants gain hands-on experience and commit to bringing their skills back to the mill after graduation.

Congrats, CJ and Christian! We’re proud to invest in people and strengthen our workforce for the future.

Billerud North America was proud to recently be featured at the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Briefing.

Brian Boland, Deputy President and Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, shared Billerud’s evolution—from its roots as Mead Corporation to the company we are today—while highlighting our ongoing commitment to the Dayton region.

“Dayton has been central to our story for generations,” Brian said. “What continues to make this region so important to our North American operations is its skilled workforce, strong infrastructure and strategic location.”

The discussion also explored Billerud’s focus on sustainable packaging solutions, global market presence, and the important role we play in the regional economy.

Strengthening Our Voice in Washington.

Billerud North America President Doug Schwartz and Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager Sarah Blanzy recently visited Washington, D.C. engaging directly with federal policymakers on issues that matter to our business and operations in Michigan and Wisconsin.

In partnership with American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), key topics were discussed such as extended producer responsibility (EPR) consistency, data-driven Boiler MACT regulations, and evolving biomass policy.

“By working collaboratively with organizations like AF&PA and proactively building relationships in Washington, we help ensure our perspective is heard and our industry is well represented,” said Schwartz.
