This adventure took us to Brookville Lake Resort. Was called in to try and fix or salvage a very bad deck and step job. Long story short, homeowner hired an unqualified contractor to build a deck/landing and steps for their lake house. When it takes less then 45 minutes to remove everything they built and all we can do is shake our heads and keep saying, that's wrong over and over. You know it is bad. Off to the lumber yard, buy supplies and get started. Didn't take a pic of what was there but it was bad. Steps were not equal, landing was floating on pier blocks, which are dangerous, joist hangers had screws which is a big no no. Just poor construction. New landing secured permanently to concrete and house. New steps which require just some basic math and a little thinking. The last 2 pictures are the end result. Safe and secure and easy to walk on. New handrails will go on at a later date. Folks, please do your homework and ask for references when hiring a contractor. There are lots of guys out here that will say they can do something, take your money and leave you very disappointed and unsafe. At Reeder Construction, we want you to be a satisfied customer but more importantly we want you to be a customer for life.
