Monolithic slab vs. stem wall π₯π₯ here's what actually matters for your land π
Most people don't think about their foundation until someone asks them which one they want. Here's the breakdown so you're not caught off guard
Monolithic Slab
One continuous concrete pour. Faster to build, more cost effective, and works beautifully on flat, level lots with natural drainage and minimal fill dirt required. Not the right call for sloped lots, flood zones, or anywhere significant fill is needed. It sits only a few inches off the ground and can crack under those conditions
Stem Wall
Built in stages, a footer at ground level, cinder blocks stacked to the desired elevation, then the slab poured on top. Takes longer but is significantly more stable on sloped lots, high fill sites, and flood prone areas. It also gives your home that elevated curb appeal you see in the video
The good news is at Red Door Homes we have perfected both, all of our homes can be built on either monolithic or stem walls
