Thanks to volunteer turned teacher Connor, we are piloting a Blender 3d modeling class.

Due to Meta's new policy preventing us from linking to our own events and website, the link will be in the comments.

IMPORTANT: MINIMUM AGE 14

Blender is a popular and versatile open-source 3D modelling software used both by hobbyists and professionals. This course will help students gain a fundamental understanding of its user interface, basic toolkit, and its many applications. Students are encouraged to download Blender on their home computers for personal use and further their own education with the software.

This course is 3x 1 hour sessions on Thursdays at 6pm.

Announcing 3D Printing Class for Adults
TIMING:
November 5, 2026, 6:30-8:30
___________________________
WE NEED YOUR HELP:
Facebook has suddenly instituted policies that prevent us from sending you to our website or event website, severely limiting the reach we used to get without paying $50/month. We are a nonprofit charity, and can't yet justify paying this. If you see this, please kindly share our post to help us achieve the reach we used to get for free on Facebook, and check the comments for signup details.

OK back to the class posting!

ADULT 3D PRINTING:
Normally BoroBot offers classes for kids, but that isn't because we don't want to teach adults, it's just because we wanted to start with kids who have the most time ahead of them to benefit from the learning.

However, we love to make custom parts for our home and makerspace, and we think this is a skill that adults would like to pick up.

We look forward to teaching you how to make custom parts, household items, pieces of art, and other custom 3d printed items that might solve problems in your life. Come join us!

PRICING:
Most of our kids classes are free because we feel strongly about providing this opportunity to kids regardless of financial resources, but as a nonprofit makerspace, we need money to operate, so the pricing for our adult classes is part of the plan to keep kids classes free and to support our ambitious growth goals. Come pick up a new skill and contribute to the makerspace all at the same time!

We have a goal to sell 100 of our little "BooBucket" glow lamps by the end of October. Please note, if you buy one, the base it comes with allows for easy swapping of the image, so you can use it for any of our future glow lamp inserts as well!

Please consider adding some spooky holiday cheer to your window or desk and supporting our nonprofit makerspace at the same time!

Link to the website is directly in the comments. Thank you to all who have purchased!!

We are happy to announce another session of our Laser 101 class for October 🎃 - the class is on October 29th from 6p-8p. You can sign up via the link below.

Please note! If your child has already taken our laser 101 class, this is the same class, since we have limited seats available please don't sign up again if you've already taken this class.

Also! Not to sound nit picky but we have had quite a few no shows lately. This is really tough for us - BoroBot is run completely by volunteers who take time after their 9-5 to teach. When you don't show up for a free class (Middleboro kids are free!) it is tough because you are taking that seat away from someone else in the community and honestly it hurts our feelings 😞

Also x2! We are run on donations! Please consider contributing to us to help us grow within the community, if your child enjoys this class, consider donating - we also have our current fundraiser - light up "BooBuckets" - every bit counts and helps keep us going. You can find the link to purchase in our feed or on our website (BoroBot.org)

Thank you! 💕

We will learn about laser cutting, how to create a laser-ready file, and design and cut a project or two on materials we supply.

On August 15, 11 Middleboro kids aged 8-18 capped off a 6 week underwater robotics project called SeaPERCH, with a time trial competition in the town pool as part of BoroBot's first annual Underwater Robotics Extravaganza! We are able to offer this program free thanks to your donations. We are a federally recognized 501c3 charity focused on education, and If you'd like to donate any amount to see us do more of these activities, please visit BoroBot.org/donations to make a tax deductible contribution. Thank you in advance for any amount!! All dollars go directly to our programming and equipment.

SeaPERCH is a program put on by RoboNation and it gives a framework for the construction of an underwater robot with basic hardware store materials. It was a 6 week program meeting up on Saturdays with 4 build days, 1 pool test day, and a final competition

The kids were broken up into 4 teams by age and coached by our volunteer coaches (some of whom are middleboro youth) to build their robots. Teams learned how to work together, with their hands and some basic hand tools to build the robot frame, then wire, solder, and waterproof the motors, solder their own printed circuit board controller, and then tweak the buoyancy on their craft with our indoor water tank before testing and competing in the town pool.

The competition theme was about waterway cleanup, and focused on piloting through several hoops and picking up and moving floating and sunken debris. All teams were successful in grabbing some floating and some sunken debris - maybe some watershed cleanup robots might be in their future??

Thanks to the Middleboro Parks Department and their employees for the collaboration, and for giving a free swim to our attendees after the competition was over. The town pool is a beautiful and idyllic spot to host this competition, and we are so thankful for your hospitality!

Finally let's give it up for this group of kids who worked hard to get to this point and had the courage to compete in front of almost 100 people. We hope this is a beginning/continuation of their story in STEM!

LINK IN THE COMMENTS!!

Want to come see a cool event, encourage young robotics engineers, support a nonprofit, and get a meal/soda and a free swim as thanks?

Come check out Middleboro's First Annual Underwater Robotics Extravaganza at the Middleboro Town Pool at 26 Jackson St on August 15th 11a-1p (doors at 1030a).

We purposefully set the price at "Whatever you want to contribute" so that your bank account doesn't prevent you from taking it all in or inspiring your kiddo with some local underwater robotics, but we did suggest $10/adult, $5/kid, and $25/family of 4 to help cover our costs, and of course we would not be upset if you loved what we do so much that you chose to contribute more!!

Come see the robots that our kids have been building/testing for 5 weeks face off!

SPECIAL THANKS TO Middleboro Parks Department for the free swim, and Middleboro's Hannaford for providing food/drink!
