Our Metrology business segment is comprised of three major groups: optical surface pro

filers, laser interferometers, and stage position metrology. The products and systems produced by these groups employ various optical phase analysis techniques for measuring displacement, surface shape and texture, and film thickness. Applications for our metrology products are diverse, and include precision machining, optical manufacturing, and semiconductor manufacturing, as well as many others. Our Optics business segment is comprised of two major groups: Electro-Optics and Optical Components. These groups leverage ZYGO's expertise in optical design and assembly, and high-volume manufacturing of precision optical components and systems, for aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications. Founded in 1970, and headquartered in Middlefield, Connecticut, USA, ZYGO's global operations are supported by approximately 500 dedicated and highly-skilled individuals around the world. Throughout its history, ZYGO has been driven by a passion for innovation, as evidenced by approximately 1,200 patents awarded since the Company's founding. In 2014, ZYGO became part of the Ultra Precision Technologies Division of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electro-mechanical devices. With annual sales over $4 billion, AMETEK has more than 15,000 colleagues at nearly 150 operating locations, and a network of sales, service and support locations across the United States and in 30 other countries. ZYGO enjoys mutually-beneficial relationships with its AMETEK sister companies, collaborating on technologies and sharing resources in order to provide the best possible experience for our customers. While we are a part of the AMETEK family, we are still the same Zygo Corporation that you have known and trusted for over 45 years, committed to serving your precision metrology and optics needs now and in the future.

Setting the Z-Stop in Zygo's Mx™ software helps protect your objectives, optimize measurement speed, and improve the reliability of our 3D Optical Profilers

By defining the appropriate vertical scan range, operators can reduce unnecessary scan travel, improve throughput, and ensure critical surface features remain within the measurement window

And this prevents the objectives from hitting the object you're measuring

Proper Z-Stop configuration is especially valuable when measuring parts with known height ranges, helping create more repeatable measurement routines, and reducing setup time between samples

This feature is ideal for applications ranging from semiconductor wafers and precision optics to medical devices, advanced manufacturing components, and other production environments where efficiency and consistency are essential

Zygo's 3D Optical Profiler instruments enable precise, quantitative, ISO-compliant, non-contact surface measurement and characterization of micro- and nano-scale surface features, capturing up to two million data points in just seconds

The new Qualifire® Laser Interferometers from Zygo are the next generation of non-contact metrology

These interferometers provide fast and reliable measurements of surface form error and transmitted wavefront of optical components, systems, and assemblies

They build on Zygo's long history as a pioneer in phase-shifting interferometry while adding new features that improve ease of use including:

- Coherent Artifact Reduction – removing coherent spatial noise and annoying coherent bullseye artifacts using Flying Spot for the best signal to noise ratio possible

- Plano Cavity Autofocus – a very precise focus can be set on perfectly specular surfaces without the need for edges, fiducials, reticles, or other physical artifacts necessary for manual or intensity-based focus, all without operator intervention

Stable Zoom – stable optical alignment so that there is no shift in focus or image centering from 1X to 3X zoom and no loss of fidelity

Smart Accessories – automatically sets the instrument lateral resolution based on the accessory installed and, for Smart Transmission Spheres, the radius of curvature of the part

This video from the 2026 SPIE Optics + Photonics tradeshow shows the Qualifire Laser Interferometer in action, revealing an etching on a glass plate that's invisible to the naked eye

Building optical communication systems for space requires more than a single technology or supplier

Creating a high-performance optical link means balancing precision optics, advanced coatings, optical system design, signal integrity, alignment stability, and long-term durability in a challenging environment where maintenance is not an option

That's why we're excited to participate in the upcoming SuperHero League Webinar: Photonics for Space Communications, bringing together experts from Zygo, OPTOMAN, G&H, and Acktar to discuss the critical technologies that enable next-generation space communication systems

Richard Pultar's segment will cover how alignment at 632.8 nm translates to performance at 1550 nm, examining the impact of wavelength scaling on wavefront error, PSF, focus, and fiber coupling in space-based optical communication systems

Join us for this unique opportunity to hear perspectives from across the optical ecosystem and engage directly with industry experts during the live Q&A
