A major milestone for rail transportation in Connecticut!

AI Engineers (AIE) joined Governor Ned Lamont, Connecticut Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto, and state and local officials for the ribbon cutting of the new Windsor Locks Train Station, marking an important step toward improved regional connectivity and downtown revitalization.

As CTDOT’s construction engineering and inspection consultant, AIE played a key role in delivering this modern, ADA-compliant station along the New Haven–Springfield rail line.

The project incorporated innovative engineering solutions, including a Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) platform supported by steel beams and pile foundations, as well as an integrated snow-melting system. Additional improvements included expanded parking, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle access, and improved connections to Bradley International Airport.

The new station marks a significant investment in Connecticut’s transportation infrastructure, bringing rail service closer to downtown Windsor Locks and strengthening connections for residents, commuters, and visitors throughout the region.

Congratulations to CTDOT, Amtrak, the Town of Windsor Locks, and the entire project team on reaching this important milestone!

A busy day of connections and conversations about the future of New York and New Jersey!

Yesterday, the AI Engineers (AIE) team attended two events highlighting the major investments and initiatives shaping our region.

The day began at the Association for a Better New York (ABNY) Power Breakfast in Manhattan, where NYCEDC President & CEO Anthony Shorris discussed New York City's economic development priorities, including accelerating housing construction and expanding affordable housing opportunities.

Our team then headed to Brooklyn for the 2026 Regional Infrastructure Opportunities Summit at the New York City College of Technology. The event brought together leaders from PANYNJ, DASNY, NYCDDC, MTA C&D, NYCHPD, NYCHA, NJDOT, NYCEDC, NYPA, and NJ TRANSIT to discuss more than $100 billion in anticipated infrastructure investments across New York and New Jersey over the next decade.

From upcoming projects and industry partnerships to the resources needed to deliver these ambitious programs, both events offered valuable insights into the opportunities ahead.
For AIE, it was a great opportunity to strengthen industry relationships, exchange ideas, and explore how our multidisciplinary expertise can support the next generation of infrastructure improvements across the region.

We have a number of senior staff who are alumni graduates of the NED University of Engineering and Technology, one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education engineering institutions in South Asia.

This past weekend, the 2026 International NED Alumni Convention brought more than 550 alumni, guests, and friends together in Stamford, Connecticut, for two days of connection, leadership, and shared learning with a keynote address from the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General William Tong.

Organized by the National NED Alumni Organization and co-hosted by the regional New England NED Alumni Association, the convention featured conversations on some of the issues shaping our profession and communities.

A panel on climate resilience, moderated by Rizwan Baig, Chief Engineer of The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ), a prominent alum of the university, explored the role engineers play in addressing environmental challenges and protecting future generations.

A second panel, “Leading Through the AI Revolution,” was moderated by AIE's President and CEO Abul Islam and featured industry experts Dr. Safwan Shah (Payactiv), Dr. Ali Minai (University of Cincinnati), and Dr. Majid Khan (Verizon. The discussion examined the opportunities, challenges, and leadership considerations surrounding the continued growth of artificial intelligence.

The weekend also recognized individuals who have made lasting contributions to the NED community, including AIE’s COO Aslam Siddiqui, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award from its New England Chapter.

The convention reflected this year’s theme, “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders,” through knowledge sharing, professional connections, and a continued commitment to supporting the next generation of alumni building their careers in the United States.

Many alumni of the university are in prominent positions as officials in federal, state, and municipal public transit & infrastructure agencies to senior c-suite individuals with major Silicon Valley companies to prominent construction & engineering entrepreneurs throughout the USA, Canada, UK, and Australia. We were proud to be a sponsor of this past weekend's event!

AIE was thrilled to attend the 2026 ACEC RI Golf Tournament at the beautiful Pawtucket Country Club!

This annual event was a fantastic opportunity for our staff to connect with industry leaders and professionals in the AEC community, all while supporting a great cause. We're happy to contribute to an event where a portion of the proceeds will benefit ACEC RI’s annual scholarship program, helping to continue this cherished tradition.

We had an awesome time welcoming Travelin' Tom's Coffee truck to our workplace on this cloudy day!

Employees were able to stop by for a quick break and enjoy a variety of hot and iced coffee, hot chocolate, and tea beverages, along with exceptionally tasty Belgian waffles.

Meet Ximena Amasifuen, Human Resources Coordinator at AIE’s Middletown, CT office.

With over 4 years of professional experience across banking, financial services, business operations, and administration, including 1.5+ years in Human Resources, Ximena brings a passion for supporting employees and creating a positive employee experience.

Originally from Lima, Peru, Ximena speaks Spanish and English and is currently learning Italian. Outside of work, she enjoys concerts, painting botanical watercolors, pottery, spending time with her cats, collecting plants, and staying active. She also volunteers through the Be My Eyes app, assisting blind and low-vision users in both Spanish and English.

We are thrilled to have Ximena on the team and appreciate the empathy, curiosity, and dedication she brings to AIE every day.

Security and convenience are often presented as competing priorities, but effective Cybersecurity should enable the business, not stand in its way.

AIE’s Senior Director of IT, Derrick Woolford, and Cybersecurity Administrator, Dylan Kallicharan, attended CrowdStrike Fal.Con 2026 to explore how the security landscape is changing, particularly as generative and agentic AI become more integrated into everyday operations.

From technical sessions to a hands-on Red Team vs. Blue Team workshop, they examined modern attack methods and practical strategies for strengthening threat detection, incident response, identity protection, and AI governance.

The key takeaway: security and convenience should not be competing priorities. Intelligent, proportionate safeguards can protect people, systems, and data while supporting innovation across the organization.

Thank you to CrowdStrike and the Fal.Con community for an informative and engaging experience. AIE will apply these insights as we continue advancing our cybersecurity program.
