Can highway bridge-rating tools help advance railroad bridge evaluation?

At the 2026 AASHTOWare Rating and Design Bridge User Group (RADBUG) Meeting in Columbus, Ohio, AI Engineers’ Elizabeth Befikadu, PE, explored that question in her presentation, Railway Bridge Analysis.

Elizabeth shared insights on using AASHTOWare BrR for railroad bridge load ratings, the differences between highway and railway bridge evaluation, and opportunities to bring AREMA and AASHTO practices closer together.

An engaging conversation about where bridge analysis is today and where it could go next.

Does faster project delivery mean sacrificing quality? That’s a myth worth challenging.

Quality is driven by collaboration, not simply the project schedule.

When owners, designers, and builders engage early, teams can address constructability, reduce conflicts, and work toward stronger project outcomes.

Better delivery starts with better collaboration.

Our VP, Mike Giacco, recently took the stage at the 2026 NCEES Annual Meeting to explore one of the biggest questions facing the profession today: How can engineers and surveyors embrace AI while upholding professional judgment, accountability, and trust?

Mike delivered an engaging presentation on the opportunities AI brings to the industry, along with the important considerations surrounding liability, the standard of care, and professional licensure.

Thank you to NCEES and everyone who joined the conversation. It’s exciting to see our industry engage with these important questions as AI becomes an increasingly important part of everyday practice.

AI is changing how engineering and surveying work, but innovation has to go hand in hand with professional judgment, accountability, and trust.
We’re proud to have our VP, Mike Giacco, presenting at the 2026 NCEES Annual Meeting on how licensed professionals can put AI to work while navigating liability, standard of care, and the responsibilities that come with professional licensure.

These are exactly the conversations our industry needs as AI moves from experimentation into everyday practice.

Looking forward to connecting with the NCEES community in Las Vegas!

AI Engineers joined more than 1,000 engineering, construction, transportation, infrastructure, and heavy civil professionals at The Moles, Inc. Summer Clambake at the New York Athletic Club at Travers Island in Pelham, New York.

The annual gathering provided an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, build new relationships, and spend time with many of the professionals helping deliver critical infrastructure across our region.

Congratulations to The Moles and its leadership, including President John O’Keefe, Vice President at Skanska, on bringing the industry together for another memorable event.

From boat tours and golf to a baseball game and plenty of conversation throughout the day, the Clambake was a fitting celebration of the relationships and collaboration that keep our industry moving forward.
