Did you know that when your sheep have been on really good feed the micron of their wool will be higher or more course? It can change as much as 2 micron from a drought year to a good feed year.

We had our ISO interview and lab inspection last week. We will have our ISO certification within 30 days. We have been working hard to obtain ISO & IWTO certification. We will be the first ever certified wool lab in the US. Bringing World Class wool testing to help improve the US wool clip.

Congressman Burgess Owens stopped by to visit the lab. We talked about how to increase manufacturing of sheep and wool products. The innovations of the wool lab to improve testing in the US. Then finished with the importance of partnerships for the future of the sheep industry.

Today we are testing Alpaca fibers. We test for Mean fiber Diameter, Standard deviation, Coefficiant of Variation, Spin Fineness, Comfort Factor, Staple Length, Curvature, and % of Medullated fibers. This will help improve genetics of the flock.
