Clean water doesn't happen by accident.

The team was recently out at the Pontiac Wastewater Treatment Plant tackling a 30-year old knife gate replacement project that would allow the city more control over their sewage.

This type of work runs 24/7 in the background so that an entire community can turn on the tap and not think twice about it.

That's the job. And our guys do it right.

Sometimes the toughest work happens where no one ever sees it.

On a recent project, our team replaced a failing section of steam main deep inside a dark, cramped underground tunnel. Tight access, high temperatures, and zero room for error meant every move had to be planned before the first cut was made.

With safety leading the way, the crew removed the aging pipe, installed new steam main built to last, and pressure-tested the system to ensure everything was fully operational.

Challenging conditions. Flawless ex*****on.

Sometimes we run into problems during high-stress shutdown periods that require us to think on our feet...

That is exactly what happened on a recent shutdown project when the conveyer supplier sent the wrong equipment.

Take a walk with Logan Mortz to dive into a recent shutdown project at a large commercial bakery.

Two large projects were condensed into one shutdown period with 16 men working around the clock.

With some quick thinking and flawless ex*****on, the team was able to delivery BOTH projects ahead of schedule to the customer in order to be fully operational on Monday morning and providing baked goods for the entire United States.

It is not a big surprise that infrastructure is aging and decaying...

At CSM Mechanical, we pride ourselves in fixing things that are old.

The team recently replaced some ancient flow meters that track the amount of raw sewage that an entire city produces.

Although it can be dirty, the team did an absolutely incredible job to safely and efficiently replace both meters and have the entire city back up and running exactly on schedule.

Sometimes things do not always go as planned....

The important thing is to keep a calm demeanor and be quick on your feet.

Project Manager Nick Lovell experienced this first-hand on a recent project for the City of Brighton.

While an entire pump station was down, bypass pumping installed, a tremendous rainstorm, and some VERY tricky material tried to stop the project dead in it's tracks; Nick and the CSM Mechanical team did an incredible job to adapt and deliver the project to the customer on time and on schedule.

Great job guys, these are the ones that truly test us but also truly teach us the most!

-14 different school projects
-24,000 projected man-hours
-20,800 actual man-hours (A true testament to our team)
-Zero delays or zero injuries

We all know that "things are not always as they seem."

Whether it is the process of food getting to your table or flushing the toilet; the processes that go into our day-to-day life are often FAR more complex than we can begin to comprehend.

Take a walk with CSM Mechanical foreman Ian Haines as he and the team wrap up a large clarifier installation for the city of Owosso, Michigan.

This clarifier is one of the final steps in a long process of turning raw sewage into safe and environmentally clean water that ultimately returns back to your home in the form of usable and clean water.

Ian and the team out at Owosso did an incredible job to remain safe and work alongside the customer from start to finish.

If CSM Mechanical has ever performed work for you or your business, then you have absolutely dealt with Ashley.

Ashley has been with CSM for 4-years and has been largely responsible for invoices that go out and calling on customers regarding any sort of billing issue.

To most, this may seem like an intimidating responsibility... But Ashley handles everyday with the same fun and calming personality that she approaches life with.

We could not be more thankful to have Ashley on the team as our "vicious enforcer."

One of the most rewarding things that we get to experience here CSM Mechanical is watching young men / women develop into leaders and truly incredible "adults."

Ian Haines started working for us 5-years ago as an apprentice with little knowledge of the trades or mechanical systems.

Ian leaned into learning, joined our Apprenticeship program, worked underneath three different CSM Foremen, and has developed into an absolutely incredible young man who is starting to learn how to run his own projects and manage people.

Ian's father Larry is a Senior foreman at CSM, and it is incredible to see Ian develop into an incredibly smart leader just like Larry.

Take a walk around Pierce Middle School where Ian and the team worked tirelessly all summer to complete an HVAC overhaul and renovation while up against a tight deadline.

We love to see team member develop and grow. Ian is just one example of this happening on a daily basis and we could not be more lucky to sit back and watch it happen!

We all love a finished product....

Luckily, at the end of the summer, we have A LOT of those!

Of all the finished projects, there might not be one more eye-catching than the "Royal Oak High School Boiler Room Renovation."

CSM Mechanical senior foreman Ben Anderson and other members of the team worked tirelessly all summer long to wrap this project up as kids came back for school.

With constant planning and a positive attitude in the face of adversity, the men out at Royal Oak High School did an absolutely unbelievable job that truly exemplifies what we represent.

A couple of years ago, we saw a tremendous need for formalized training that gave young tradesmen the opportunity to learn and grow within the trades while following a structured path.

We worked tirelessly with teachers and educators to develop our own apprenticeship program in which employees and students could learn different skills of the trade including; HVAC service, welding, plumbing essentials, rigging, and more.

Over that time period, we have watched the class increase over 2x in occupancy and have seen our own CSM Mechanical team members competency and skillsets increase exponentially.

Seeing students, men / women, and employees take pride and initiative in their educations has been an incredibly humbling experience and we are so grateful and excited for all that is to come!
