Found a clogged filter drier with a temperature differential of 5 degrees! It may seem small to those outside of the trade, but this indicates the internal mesh screen is restricted - which will impact the refrigeration performance. A filter drier is typically deemed clogged with 2-3 degrees difference across inlet and outlet. It’s time to go!

Found a refrigerant leak in this old freezer’s evaporator coil (verified with two leak detectors). This confirmed our diagnosis of low refrigerant charge found on previous appointment. Unique equipment set up with two reach-freezers tied to one shared compressor on the roof (units isolated by solenoid valves).

Did you know the cleanliness of gas burners plays a significant role in the performance and efficiency of a gas furnace? Clean burners allow for better airflow and even distribution of gas, ensuring that the combustion process is efficient. Incomplete combustion caused by dirty burners can lead to the production of carbon monoxide or unburned gas, which are harmful pollutants. A clean burner ensures more complete combustion, reducing harmful emissions and improving air quality.

The typical homeowner will only call an HVAC contractor if their system breaks down or they notice a change in the equipment’s performance (no heat/cool, smell or sound, etc.). What most homeowners aren’t aware of is how impactful a well maintained system can have on a home or building’s energy and comfort.

Adaptive offers extensive mechanical inspections that go beyond completing a maintenance checklist. Our goal is to leave you with the peace of mind that your system is performing as efficiently as possible. Call us today to schedule your annual preventative maintenance. Your home deserves it!

This homeowner had never cleaned his electronic air cleaner and purchased the home in 2018! I decommissioned the EAC (which wasn’t even on), cleaned the pre-filters to use temporarily and provided the homeowner with measurements to use a media filter he can easily dispose and replace on more frequent basis.

Tight and right! Performance is critical but attention to esthetics shows pride of the craft. Proud to be working in the construction industry and providing a skilled trade! *Note the use of existing rocks to create a separation from walkway to crushed gravel. It’s the little things!

It’s pretty common to find homes that have undersized return air ductwork, which may require adding a return duct or increasing the existing duct/grill size when installing a heat pump or air conditioner. In this case, the existing return was adequately sized (total static pressure was measured across equipment to assess), however, was only pulling from one corner of the home (downstairs). Fortunately, there was a route from the equipment in the garage into the attic through an upstairs closet and we were able to add a ceiling grill to pull some air from the second story. This should help balance the temperature in the home a bit more, especially while running the indoor fan constantly. To take this one more step, the existing downstairs grill was replaced by a much more esthetic model (which matched upstairs).
