The tomb is empty! We are saved! Happy Resurrection Day!!!

03/26/2026

As we wrap up the first quarter of the year, the reality is setting in across the HVAC industry—manufacturer price increases are here. Many of the major brands have raised prices, in some cases by as much as 8%, and unfortunately, that impact is making its way directly to homeowners.

We understand what happens next. When prices rise, it’s natural to start looking for cheaper options. That’s when the “chuck in a truck” shows up—no license, no insurance, no employees, and very little overhead—offering deals that seem too good to pass up.

But here’s the truth:
Reputable companies can’t compete with that—and shouldn’t have to.

Licensed, insured, and experienced HVAC companies invest in:

Proper training and certifications
Quality equipment and installation standards
Insurance and liability protection for your home
Employees who stand behind their work

That level of professionalism and accountability simply isn’t reflected in bargain pricing.

Unfortunately, what we often see is this:
Homeowners take the cheaper route upfront… and then call us later to fix what went wrong. And more often than not, the original installer is nowhere to be found when problems arise.

We’re not here to be the cheapest—we’re here to be reliable, accountable, and done right the first time.

With rising costs and tariffs affecting the industry, skilled and licensed work is not—and has never been—cheap. But it is worth it.

If you’re comparing options, just make sure you’re not only asking “How much?” but also “Who’s standing behind the work?”

Wright Heating, Cooling, and Electrical has been comforting homes in middle Georgia for generations and we aren’t going anywhere. We’re family owned, honest, and not owned by private equity!

PSA: Heat Pump Operation During An Ice Storm

Heat pump systems work by absorbing heat from the outside air and transferring that heat to the indoor air.
Standard heat pumps begin systems begin to have decreased efficiency when outside temperatures drop below freezing. In normal cold conditions (no rain, ice, snow, etc), the heat pumps begin system is assisted by an auxiliary heat source, typically electric heat strips, when the temperature is below freezing.
When you have freezing rain or ice the outdoor unit can have an excessive buildup of ice around the fan on top that can in extreme cases interfere with the fan operation on top of the unit.

A primary question that we have been getting is: Can I operate my heat pump unit during an ice storm and should i cover it to prevent ice buildup?

The short answer is yes you can however there are stipulations.

The system must have a 12 inch clearance around the sides and a minimum 36 inch clearance on the top for it to be able to breathe properly to continue proper operation. If you choose to cover your system with some type of tent to prevent the freezing rain or ice from landing on the unit, make sure that you keep these clearances in mind. If it can’t breathe then it won’t work.
My standard answer for heat pumps is that if we are below 25 degrees outside for more than four hours then it may be a good idea to switch your thermostat to emergency heat if you feel like it’s not keeping up with the setpoint temperature. If you do this, once the temperature reaches above freezing, you are normally safe to change it back to the regular heat setting.

If you choose to continue running your heat pump system through an ice storm, be sure to keep an eye on it to make sure that it isn’t building up ice on top that is going down into the fan.

If you have problems with your heating system please feel free to give us a call at 478-452-1148.

PSA about home generators.
We have been receiving lots of inquiries ahead of this potential ice storm threat coming in so we wanted to put out a little information to the public about generators.
1. Generator usage for your home ALWAYS requires proper planning.
2. The simplest and safest way to use a portable generator for your home is to have drop cords prepared and to simply run cords and plug in a few critical items that you want to keep running.
Sizing is very important in this because just any generator is not going to run everythingyou want to run. Speak to a professional about what your needs are. Costs for this are simply for the generator, cords, and fuel.
3. Connecting a portable generator system to your homes electrical system can be extremely dangerous if it’s not done properly. You MUST HAVE a properly connected transfer switch to protect you, your home, your electrical devices, and most importantlythe linemen out working hard to get the power back on. These transfer switchestake a lot of planning to have them installed properly and this usually can’t be done at the spur of the moment. Costs for this can range anywhere from $1,500 to $6,000.
4. The beat way to protect and provide power to your family is to have an automatic standby generator system professionally installed on your home. This process typically takes 4-6 weeks to plan, order the equipment and to have it all installed. Yes you can go to a big box store and buy a standby generator system but most people don’t realize that ther is a lot more that goes into this than just buying one. This process costs on average $10,000 to $20,000 which is a major expense to most homeowners and as i stated before typically takes about 4-6 weeks to complete.
REMEMBER: The best time to fix your roof is when it isnt raining!
