Cadens, LLC, is a startup and pioneer in the field of micro- to small-hydropower, and particularly in the deployment of Near Net Shape (NNS) technology to turbine design and production. Cadens has developed a low-head hydro power research facility in southeast WI to test and develop site-specific hydro power machines. ctronics to produce new hydropower technologies will significantly reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) for hydro power. According to the American Society for Civil Engineers’ “2013 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure,” 70% of the 84,000 dams in the U.S. will be over 50 years old by 2020. We are building a team to actively address conversions to produce clean, renewable energy at existing non-power dams. River communities, private landowners, and businesses that must rebuild vital dam infrastructure can partner with us to capitalize on a significant opportunity to retrofit non-hydropower dams with new, lightweight hydro turbine machines. The company is entering the hydropower market by developing the proper manufacturing to enable the U.S. to benefit from its vast, but largely unused, small hydro potential.
