“Humble beginnings” can be an overused term. Yet use it we will, as it accurately describes the small local blacksmith shop where Max Weiss Company started in 1946. Seven decades and four generations of family ownership later, Max Weiss Company is a market leader in large metal forming, large rolled structural steel products, and hot-formed and fabricated metal shapes. Our company President, Alan Sanders, was thrilled to provide an update on Max Weiss Co LLC at this weekend's 100th Anniversary Celebration in Scottsdale, Ariz. A couple highlights were introducing Nick Montijo and Bryan Brooks, two of our sales and estimating professionals, and noting that 2026 represents our company's 80th anniversary.

He also touched on new equipment additions in our plant, and the challenges and triumphs of our work on Amway Stadium in Grand Rapids, Mich. This project represented yet again the all-important value of partnerships, such as Steel Supply & Engineering Company bringing us on as its bending partner.

This red-hot metal bar bends easily in the capable hands of Tim Spangenberg, a metalworking wizard at Max Weiss Co LLC. Tim heated the 8-foot long, 2-1/8" diameter piece in a forge prior to putting it into the forming machine. His end product is torsion bars - and the steps to creating them are many, exacting and demanding.

Roll, roll ... and roll again. Patience and precision is how Nick Krenke, a metalworking maestro at Max Weiss Co LLC, forms this 47" x 8" piece of sheet metal to a 15" outside diameter. This 8" x 6" x 26' tube has been formed by the metal bending professionals at Max Weiss Co LLC ... and now has to be trimmed to size. Watch as Will Wilsey, one of our metal working wizards, deftly moves this long piece into a cutting machine. Notice how he doesn't even look at the remote control in his left hand? Some would call it muscle memory. It's better defined as "skill."
