120 candles would've been a lot, so we went with cheers and good company instead. 🎂

In 1906, an architect named Peter Brust set up a small practice in Milwaukee with a simple belief: great design shapes communities for generations. Over the next 120 years, that belief carried the firm through new names, new leaders and buildings that remain part of the fabric of this region.

But 120 years isn't measured in buildings alone. It's measured in the people, communities, and organizations we've served, and the missions and visions we've helped bring to life. We celebrated the people behind that work; those who show up every day to design, build and bring that mission to life, with great food, plenty of laughs and a room full of well-earned pride at our neighbors, Lombardi Brewing Company.

Here's to the people behind our first 120 years and the ones shaping the next.

Amanda Brown, Associate | Architectural Technician, celebrates five years with the firm. Amanda brings precision and care to every project she works on, making a difference for the healthcare team and clients she supports. We’re glad to celebrate this milestone with her!

Andrew Tillman, Associate | Architect, has earned his professional architectural license! Licensure takes years of experience, dedicated study, and a demanding series of exams. Andrew accomplished his exams in under a year, an incredible achievement. Congratulations, Andrew, on this well-earned milestone!

Bringing more healthcare options closer to home for Wisconsin Rapids.

Ground broke this week on the Wisconsin Rapids Family Health Center, a $17.3 million, first-of-its-kind project combining primary care, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services in one building.

An estimated 1,600 area residents travel roughly 150,000 miles each year for dental care alone, many because affordable options aren’t available locally. This center is designed to change that.

Scott Gosnell, AIA, Healthcare Studio Director, reflects on the milestone: “We are proud to celebrate more than a groundbreaking. Through its new Wisconsin Rapids location, Family Health Center is expanding access to quality healthcare, strengthening community connections, and bringing essential services together under one roof to help create a healthier future for the communities they serve."

Now, the rendering starts becoming reality. Thank you to Family Health Center of Marshfield and the many community partners who helped make this project possible.

Step inside Zimmerman Architectural Studios during Doors Open Milwaukee 2026!

Once home to the Milwaukee Gas Light Company’s West Side Works, the site played a key role in producing the gas that illuminated Milwaukee’s streetlights. Originally designed by Alexander Eschweiler, the historic building was thoughtfully renovated by Zimmerman Architectural Studios in 2008, bringing new life to its striking industrial interior.

In 2026, Zimmerman celebrates 120 years of shaping Milwaukee’s built environment.

Cream puffs. The Giant Slide. Way too much food on a stick. The rides. And, of course, the animals.

We love a trip to the Wisconsin State Fair, and this year, our visit came with an exciting reason to look a little closer at Agriculture Village.

Zimmerman Architectural Studios, in partnership with GH2 Architects LLC and Harwood Engineering, has been selected to design a new agricultural facility at Wisconsin State Fair Park.

The new facility will:
• Increase animal capacity
• Improve animal and pedestrian circulation
• Strengthen biosecurity
• Provide dedicated spaces for showrings, educational displays and agricultural programming
• Support year-round events beyond the “Best 11 Days of Summer”

While at the Fair, our team had the opportunity to explore the existing facilities firsthand and experience the energy of Agriculture Village - including attending the Livestock Auction. It was a great reminder of the traditions, people and animals that make this part of the Fair so special; and what makes designing its next chapter such a meaningful opportunity.

A meaningful milestone for Seton Catholic Schools and the Milwaukee community.

The ribbon cutting at St. Rafael the Archangel and Prince of Peace Schools marks the first new parish Catholic school buildings in Milwaukee in nearly 60 years.

With space for 500 students at each school, these new facilities create a foundation for learning, faith education and community, strengthening these schools as anchors in their neighborhoods for generations of students.

Now, the doors are ready to open and welcome students back for a successful school year.

The spaces where healing takes place have the power to shape the patient experience, offering comfort, connection, and hope when it matters most.

For more than 30 years, SSM Health Cancer Care has been the only accredited cancer center serving patients across 29 Wisconsin counties. With Phase 1 of the Cancer Center expansion now complete, a new chapter of patient-centered care begins in Fond du Lac. Expanded treatment areas, increased pharmacy capacity, abundant natural light, and a welcoming new entrance have been thoughtfully designed to support patients and their loved ones throughout every step of their journey.

When design begins with compassion, it can become part of the healing process.
