Many years ago, I started a very different and difficult chapter in my life. Three years as a regular volunteer and 4 1/2 on the board with Save22 was a chapter I wasn't ready for but needed. I walked away a few years ago to get my head right, thinking that chapter was done. I was wrong. The hardest part was just getting started. I had to figure out who I was without the organization. I have. I'm a Dad with adult daughters, I'm a husband to a wonderful woman who has been by my side through every single curve ball that was thrown at me. I'm a son to two aging parents and a brother to a great guy who's still raising his kids. I'm also a friend. One that will answer the phone at 3 AM without judgement. One that will help when others leave you hanging. I'm 'that guy'. It's honestly who I've always been. So tomorrow, Big Red and I, along with my beautiful wife, amazing daughter and a really good friend/Brother are going to finally close that chapter of Save22. Tomorrow, we are going to be the lead vehicle for their annual hike. For years, we followed. Tomorrow, we lead. Some of you know how much of myself I put into this, others don't and that's fine. If you take just one thing away from this post, I hope it's that you pick up the phone and call your strongest friends.
