Ping-pong champion or not, office comradery is priceless.

Hosted by Cristian Escobar, the Minneapolis team held a ping-pong tournament this week. During lunch, participants would transform from engineers and designers to ping-pong pros, bringing the best back hands and curving serves.

Despite a competitive field, only two would emerge victorious. Congratulations to Joey Johnson and Phil Vergin on first and second place. Your new trophies will shine brilliantly at your desks!

MN helps Twin Cities families and individuals transitioning to housing stability through providing donated furniture and household goods. Since 1987, Bridging has served nearly 125,000 households (more than 372,000 individuals) and reduces landfill space (spared through furniture donations) by an estimated 15 million pounds each year.

As a part of our annual Community Caring Campaign, a group from our Minneapolis office spent an afternoon volunteering at one of Bridging's metro locations. Thank you to Vlad Dain, Andrew Mandel, Alex Utley, Oswaldo Saenz, Devin Laine, Ian Ison, Megan Ramaker, Elliana Radovich, and Daniel Stauffer.

Eating and competing for a good cause!

Our Minneapolis team rallied together for an afternoon outing where food truck eats and friendly competitions in bingo, co****le, and speed puzzling helped generate proceeds for one of our partner charities Bridging MN , a Twin Cities based nonprofit providing furniture to families and people in need.

The event is part of our annual Community Caring Campaign which raises money for several charities, many long-time partners of ours, that serve our communities in Minneapolis, New Orleans, Sioux Falls: Second Harvest Heartland , Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners Habitat for Humanity , Feeding South Dakota and Feeding Louisiana .

We thank our employees for their continued generosity and pledges of support to our partner charities. Additionally, a big thanks to Gennifer Heuisler for helping coordinate this year’s campaign.

One weekend a month. Two weeks a year.

For Minnesota National Guard and Reserve duty military members, those words represent a commitment to something bigger than themselves.

VAA Principal and Electrical Department Manager Mike Gentrup, P.E. recently joined Sr. Electrical Designer and Minnesota Air National Guard member MSgt. Katie Niesen at the 133rd Airlift Wing Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) event at Fort Snelling. The participants learned about the mission and experiences of the Air Wing, tour of the facilities and concluded with a flight aboard one of the C-130H aircraft, giving the employers a firsthand look at the dedication and commitment required to serve.

"It really puts into perspective what these men and women do. They work just as hard serving our nation as they do in the office. They truly have two jobs, we're fortunate to have them at VAA and grateful for what they do for our country."

VAA is proud to support the National Guard members on our team by providing the flexibility they need to fulfill their military commitment, because great teammates don't just strengthen our company, they strengthen our communities and our nation.
