Full Job Description
Operations Manager - Refuge Design & Landscape
Refuge Design & Landscape is a design-forward, quality-obsessed landscape construction company that transforms outdoor spaces with intention and precision. We’re seeking an Operations Manager who can lead our field teams, streamline our systems, and ensure every job is executed at the highest standard—from the first shovel in the ground to the final walkthrough.
What You’ll Do:
• Lead day-to-day field operations across multiple residential and light commercial landscape projects
• Manage and mentor crew leads, ensuring clarity in expectations, job performance, and accountability
• Coordinate project schedules, material deliveries, and equipment needs in close collaboration with our designer and owner
• Ensure projects are built to spec, on time, and within budget—with attention to craftsmanship and client experience
• Oversee safety protocols, equipment upkeep, and job site organization
• Troubleshoot problems in real-time and provide hands-on support when needed
• Help implement and refine systems for quality control, job costing, and reporting
Why This Role Matters Now:
Refuge is entering an exciting phase of growth—expanding our client base, increasing project complexity, and building a reputation that continues to open new doors. For the right person, this role offers a chance to step into a leadership seat and ride that momentum—with the potential to shape your own position and grow into a higher-level role as the company scales. This is not a static job. It’s a launch pad for someone who sees opportunity, takes ownership, and wants to build something lasting.
What We’re Looking For:
• 5+ years of experience in landscape construction, with at least 2 in a leadership or ops role
• Strong working knowledge of hardscapes, grading, drainage, and planting
• Confident communicator with solid tech skills (Google Workspace, project tracking tools)
• Natural leader who can motivate crews and make decisions under pressure
• Comfortable working in a seasonal business with fluctuating workflows
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a major plus
What You’ll Get:
• A seat at the leadership table and direct input on how we grow
• Competitive compensation with bonus potential tied to project performance
• A supportive, quality-driven culture that takes pride in doing things the right way
• Opportunity to help shape a company that values trust, craftsmanship, and client satisfaction
