Much broader than the label “scientist," I consider myself an innovator, educator and passionate life-long learner. My training as a scientist has undoubtedly influenced my perspective in many areas of my life.
Innovation, at its core, is simply the process of connecting ideas and disciplines in ways that others have not considered. In that way, my passion around innovation is what fuels my passions for continuous learning. I strive to obtain knowledge and experiences from not only the scientific disciplines but from all aspects of the human experience. Culture, Philosophy, Civics and even spirituality play as much a role in my decisions as a scientist and innovator as the articles published in the most prestigious scientific journals.
This philosophy, in turn, fuels my passion for educating. I believe that critical thinking and the scientific method play a critical role in any process. Whether it be groundbreaking research or your decision to share that social media post that's going viral, a healthy dose of informed reason will always lead to better outcomes. I think that beyond my direct contributions as a scientist, one of the greatest values that I can bring to the world is to help equip those around me to be better critical thinkers.
