Campus AV monitoring has moved from nice to have to a standard expectation.

The 8am lecture starts on time because the AV team already knew the room was ready. Steven Hoenig of Legrand | AV writes in AVNation Media about how live device health, predictive alerts, and remote configuration made that the norm. Once campuses could measure how their rooms performed, they started expecting it from every manufacturer and integrator in the stack.

A control room operator does not get to step away when things get uncomfortable. The furniture has to work as hard as they do.

Legrand | AV and LundHalsey built a control room for a US federal security agency with idea top of mind. Viewing angles calculated to the degree to eliminate neck strain. Monitor arms that fully adjust to every operator. A supervisor station that rises and lowers on a timed schedule to keep people moving. Flat surface space for paper logs, because that is how the work actually gets done.

The furniture was designed around the operator, not the room.

Every case has to fly, survive setup and breakdown at each stop, and still look gallery-quality when it goes up. That was the standard Lisa Jamhoury set for loss·y, her motion-captured art installation that premiered at SXSW 2026, where visitors walked between three seven-foot rear-projection surfaces and the sculptures that mirrored them. There was no rigging in the ballroom, so three Da-Lite Fast-Fold Deluxe screens went up on Heavy Duty Legs with black skirt borders, tool-free and locked to identical tension across all three planes.

NC State University decided a strip of tiny faces at the bottom of a screen was not good enough for remote students. So they fixed it.

In Park Shops 130, a lecture hall inside a building from 1914, remote students now appear on a 98-inch screen at the front of the room with course content on LED video walls on either side. The people joining from home are part of the class, not an audience watching it.

It has become one of the most-toured spaces on campus.

Projection technology finds its way into some unexpected places. This is one of our favorites from 2026.

Artist Lisa Jamhoury had two days in a hotel ballroom, no rigging, and a competition jury on the way to build loss·y, her immersive walk-through installation for SXSW 2026. Motion capture, spatial audio, 3D-printed sculpture, and large-scale rear projection across three Da-Lite Fast-Fold Deluxe screens set up from travel cases. Museum-grade image quality for the full run.
