Here is a small video of a heat lightning storm that occurred over the Gulf of Mexico sometime around midnight last night. This storm lasted well over two hours that I'm aware of. Simply Amazing!

I can only imagine how beautiful this would have been to watch standing at the beach.

Hello all.....we are a local/licensed roofing contractor, with a focus on storm restoration. We have helped many of our community members/homeowners with their roofing and restoration projects. I like to think we do a great job and our customers have been pleased!

Many of those we have helped had/have insurance policies from carriers who have gone or are going through financial restructuring. This means thousands upon thousands of Floridians are losing coverage and be dropped. This is especially true along coastal cities. Policies in areas with the highest risk of wind damaged are becoming a "financial burden" as it was put to several of our customers.

Our best recommendation is to have a licensed/experienced roofing contractor inspect your roof before you start shopping for new insurance. This is important for so many reasons. At its core....its so you know the condition of your roof. It could be that you have weather related damages that need addressed. It could be that your roof is doing well. Not every roof requires replacement. Maybe it just needs a little TLC.

As you search to find an insurance carrier you may find most carriers will not extend coverage on asphalt shingled roofs older than 10-12 years old. We have learned that some insurance carriers may even extend coverage and only to retract coverage a few months later. This after their underwriting department has had more time to assess what risk your home may be.

Roof maintenance tip of the day:
Clean and Maintain Gutters
When kept in great condition, your gutters protect your roof by directing water and debris away from your roof and home foundation. To ensure your gutters can do their job correctly, you must keep them free of leaves, sticks, and other debris. If you do not have trees close to your home, cleaning your gutters at least twice a year to keep water flowing properly. If you have trees on your property or live in an area that experiences semi-regular hurricanes, cleaning your gutters on a quarterly basis will keep them working correctly.
