A Major SBA Financing Change Just Happened, And It Could Impact Thousands of Growing Businesses.

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that eligible borrowers can now combine SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs for up to $10 million in SBA-backed financing, doubling the previous cumulative limit of $5 million. Effective July 4, 2026. Let’s connect and create more opportunities together!

Big news! Starting March 1, 2026, the SBA will require that all owners of a small business applying for its primary loan programs (including 7(a) and 504) be 100% U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals. This change means that green card holders and other non-U.S. citizens will no longer qualify for these SBA-backed loans. #

Government Funding Update
As of Feb 3, 2026

Government shutdown ending
The House passed the FY26 funding package, including full funding for SBA programs. It now heads to the President for signature. SBA Agencies will reopen tomorrow.

What this means for the CDC industry:
• SBA fully funded for the remainder of FY26
• 504 authorization levels set (prorated)
• 504 authorization: $16.5B
• Operations will continue without interruption

What’s next:
DHS funding negotiations continue, but will NOT impact SBA.
