I am reaching out to my friends within the Facebook community for help with a community project in the Sienna area.

Several weeks ago I was contacted by The Harvest Methodist Church to see if I could assist with a project in the Sienna area.

The Harvest Church and Javier with Lamar Plumbing have been awesome! However, the amount of work that needs to be done is overwhelming.

Miss Freda is 78 years old, wheelchair bound and has lived in the same house off Trammel Fresno Road her entire life.

We are currently “remodeling” her bathroom. The situation was: working toilet, vanity with no sink, a tub with cold water and no drain. However, the need is much more than that!

At 3am Saturday morning 3 breakers in Miss Freda’s breaker box overloaded. When I went inside her house it was 32 in her bedroom where Freda was huddled around a single space heater.

We got the power turned back on and got he other 2 space heaters up and running.

In the bathroom we are working on the water in the toilet tank was frozen and the water in the shower pan, shower pan test, was frozen solid.

In addition to the bathroom remodel Miss Freda really needs a new wheelchair, new wiring, a new service panel, a 100+ gallon propane tank and propane heaters and smoke/CO2 alarms to make her home safe and livable.

So I’m asking everyone who sees this post, or perhaps your business, to consider making a donation to help fund this project beyond the original scope of a clean, safe, handicap/wheelchair accessible bathroom.

Every year Sonny’s Home Services dedicates a week of labor and materials to a worthwhile project within the community.

In previous years we have done projects for the Fort Bend Woman’s Shelter, Abigale’s House, and home repairs in Arcola and the Houston Near-North Side.

This summer we were contacted by the Make A Wish Foundation to create a space themed bedroom after a young man’s original Wish was canceled due to Covid.

Make A Wish provided the furniture and materials…we just put it all together for them. The rock climbing wall and Earth Light were to be installed by someone else after we completed what could be done with the materials available.

To all my valued friends, neighbors and customers...it’s been brought to my attention that I have missed several Facebook messages over past few weeks and for that I do apologize. It certainly wasn’t intentional and I will try to do a better job of keeping up with Facebook and Messenger moving forward.

Building a deck in Sienna today and man is it hot. I'm certainly not 25 anymore...to be fair I'm not even 50 anymore!

This was a great project. The house had been a long term rental and Sonny's Home Services had the opportunity to make it ready to go on the market.

We painted the entire interior of the home: walls, ceilings, doors, bathroom cabinets, trim, baseboards and crown molding. Replaced the back and garage entry doors, new plumbing and light fixtures/fans, new blinds, power washed the entire house and flatwork, drywall repairs, new light and electrical outlet covers, new door hardware, and the list goes on.

Since the owner of the home lives out of town SHS also "project managed" replacing windows, carpet, and tile/grout cleaning.

It was definitely a lot of work but the house looks FANTASTIC!
