THIS SHOULD BE SHARED EVERYWHERE. Here are the highlights:
-Our leaders made initial decisions based on theoretical models. We now have real data that should be driving our decisions.
-Millions of cases, small amount of deaths.
-Data is similar across many countries, no matter whether they instituted lockdowns or not (like Sweden). Lockdowns are not positively impacting the numbers in a statistically significant way.
-There are REAL secondary consequences that affect people **for a LIFETIME, not for a season.** These things are SPIKING: child abuse, spousal abuse, su***de, alcoholism, depression, and more. These are significantly more detrimental to society than COVID.
-Following the science using the CDC's own data: COVID-19 is similar in prevalence (number of cases) and in death rate compared to the flu.
-The immune system gets weaker when it is not exposed to antigens. Sheltering in place DECREASES your immune systems. Disease will spike when things open up because our immune systems have declined. And this spike will happen within a hospital system that is bankrupted with furloughed doctors and nurses.
-There's a lack of consistency from a microbiological standpoint. The virus lives on plastics for 3 days, but we haven't shut down grocery stores (with all the plastic that our food is packaged in) or Home Depot (bringing home our plastic shovels). We think we're safe because we're sheltering in place, but it's an illusion.
-We're being simplistic when we call it a COVID death when there are co-morbidities. They didn't die FROM COVID, they died WITH COVID. And doctors are BEING PRESSURED to write it up as COVID!
-Big businesses are open, little businesses are closed. There's no science behind that.
-Cases of COVID will be missed by the medical community. We cannot catch every case. That's not reality.
-Eventually, this will mutate and become less and less virulent. Because patients who are asymptomatic usually have the milder version of COVID. And it spreads quicker, but still contributes to herd immunity.
CONCLUSIONS:
-Lockdowns and business closures should end (he used the word "emphatically").
-We should quarantine the SICK not the healthy.
-We need to put measures in place so this economic shutdown doesn't happen again.
-We need to make sure we have a really good reason (not just theory) for suspending people's rights.
-We need our hospitals back up.
