***Update 6:50pm- Everybody should have power now. Please call us if you are still without electricity.

**Update 4:40pm- A contractor was digging in the area and got too close to a transmission line causing an arc, which likely made the substation go offline.

*Original Post 4:10pm- We are aware of an outage affecting the Fort Thompson area. East River Electric and Central Electric crews are on the way to assess the situation and make any necessary repairs. Thanks for your patience as they work to safely restore power.sre nr cnt k reeccity.

Hosting friends for Super Bowl Sunday? Here are a few tips to help you save on game day.

- Pre-game with efficient cooking. Save energy with slow cookers, air fryers and other small appliances (instead of the oven).

- Expecting a full house? Turn the thermostat down a notch or two (extra bodies = extra warmth)

- Cool drinks the smart way. Use a cooler for frequently grabbed drinks so the fridge isn’t constantly opened.

This loss hits the co-op family deeply, impacting both Central Electric and Lacreek Electric. Lineman Chandler Bakley, known to many as Chuck, tragically lost his life in an automobile accident on January 16.

Chuck was more than a coworker. He was a husband, a brother, a son, a talented baseball player, a loyal friend, and a skilled power lineman. His mother and brother are also part of the co-op family at Lacreek Electric in Martin. We mourn with Chandler’s wife, Angie, his family, and everyone who cared for him.

To honor his life and allow employees to attend his services, Central Electric’s office will be closed on Thursday for the funeral. Thanks for your understanding as we navigate the loss of our coworker and friend, Chandler Bakley.
