This is how I am transitioning M'brico standard tile to round nose with T track between. A little grinding and a bunch of measuring gets the desired results.

I took this video a couple of days ago. It was a pretty nice morning. By the end of the day, we had 33 mph winds. Such fun.
Be aware of your areas of finish. Even for lap siding, if you have areas with shorter than full, a little extra thought and planning goes a long way.
BTW, I really like the M12 5 3/8 saw!

The first official day of IBS was great. (Yes, a day late) I ran myself ragged stopping at so many different booths learning about new products to use as well as product solutions that will be utilized in the near future.

My favorite part was, as always, meeting new people and the conversations that come along with it. I am a better man because of it.

Also, the best booth by far to swing by and hang out is the Huber Engineered Woods booth. An incredible group of people who draw in a magnitude of more like minded people. PWT and my friends there being a close second.

My day one of IBS is in the books. There was great learning and networking with other like minded builders and architects. I love it!

Here is a blower door that I performed on a home that I contracted out most tasks. On this, I taped the standard OSB with 3M 8067 tape and used a cheap caulk at the OSB to foundation and top plate transitions as well as air sealing the attic side of the ceiling drywall after it was installed. I also insulated and did the finish carpentry.

This is probably more basic than I will ever do again as far as air sealing and couple of other aspects. My goal on this home was to be under 1.5 ACH 50PA and it was. Success.

My key take aways are that zip sheething will be standard as well as advantech subfloor. Rainscreen of some sort will be standard. And some kind of robust air barrier at the ceiling with a service cavity will be highly fought for.

This home was going to be built regardless. I added aspects that I feel made it much better than it would have been even though I will be exceeding these aspects and more in the future.

This is all a learning process. Every single day, do better than yesterday and how can we not succeed?

I have my first quote for the InSoFast batt brackets which allow you to use steel framing batts as exterior insulation. Have you thought about these? Would you consider them?

I just had to go out to the this morning since we had -10F temperatures to see what I could learn about these triple pane European windows. Wow! It was impressive to say the least. I have been talking to prospective clients about the value of triple pane recently and this trip just verified what I have been telling them. The comfort is at a whole new level and the annoying condensation that I usually experience at my personal home is nonexistent.
