Ideal made the most advanced stencil punching machines. Tracking and spacing were perfect. They had a lot of extra moving parts compared to competitors and eventually went out of production. If you can find one, you have something special. These days, you can buy Marsh brand, new. M&A, now Gulf States Engraving and Sign still has a factory rebuilt one. However, most stencils are cut by laser for speed with the accuracy.

Ink pads Comet Eagle Zephyr, Shiny, Trodat are in stock at M&A Stamp and Sign Co. No need to trash older stamps that need an ink pad, contact M&A. Comet and Eagle Zephyr are not longer made, but we have a good stock of ink pads for them still.
We still have some old Bates pads and some Reiner pads, along with Maxum, and some for Crown.
A hundred years in business leaves some rare items on the shelf!

M&A Stamp and Sign Co experienced power problems today, but surge protectors saved most equipment. Phone, Internet and production halted while smoke cleared. Something on the power feed caused issues such that the electrician explained it to the APCO representative so that they could fix it.
We apologized for all missed calls and messages.

Framed ADA sign is now able to change color. For years, It was difficult to get a color match for designers and architects who wanted a special paint scheme in a building. Many engraving plastic colors were made, and as an alternative, many shops painted their signs. Countertop materials were used for signs too. Still, color matching was tough. Now, we have framed signs that allow the owner to change the sign color anytime. These have a clear matte finish face, with the raised letters and braille on the front. Behind, the insert can be printed in any color, pattern, combination of colors, or even a photograph. Maximum versatility is achieved for indoor use!

Metalphoto is amazing stuff. It is aluminum photosensitive that is exposed with a film negative, developed like film, with a fixer. Then it is cleaned, dyed, and sealed in a boiling tank. Result is a very durable plate that meets military specifications because it will last a very long time .
We can make photo plaques, or just volume custom industrial nameplates with it. Here is one made many years ago for a hospital, still in use today:
This one has a gold tint dyed into it and a black acrylic backplate for stiffness. You will see these in this hospital, to advise everyone of their rights.

We are working in our 98 th year since my Grandfather and a WW1 buddy started Gulf States Engraving. It became a part of M&A Stamp and Sign Company in the 1990's.

We were one of the few shops to make rubber stamps from zinc photo engravings. The advantage was greater depth and faster service. We used printing rubber which was tougher than stamp rubber at that time, so high use stamps far outlasted others.
We gave up the photoengraving process when epa rules combined with material cost came into play. When laser equipment became available, we switched for safety. The switch greatly reduced waste and is now the way we make most stamps.

Today we are engraving real phenolic. Material is expensive but heat resistant. Cut out on a big engraver is better than saw cut because chipping is eliminated.
The machine is a 24 x 48 full sheet engraver.

Wall letters look great installed. Here the letters are being installed on studs in holes drilled from a mounting template. Studs maintain alignment indefinitely. Relying on glue means letter alignment will change over time, so we always use studs on the back of the letters.

A customer just told me she was unable to buy a replacement pad for her Stamp at a local office store. I want to remind everyone that M&A Stamp and Sign Co offers replacement pads for the stamps we sell. We have an inventory of legacy parts for old Crown, Eagle Zephyr and Comet parts, so we are better equipped for rubber stamp needs than local big box office stores.

Vintage date stamps and time stamps are still available from M&A Stamp and Sign Co. These featured plug in rubber dates and are used with a stamp pad. Once, these were popular at banks because the dates were always in alignment. I wonder if anyone remembers these?
