🌡️ Heat Wave Alert for Mocksville, Clemmons, Winston Salem & Surrounding Areas! 🥵❄️
With temperatures reaching 98-100°, we wanted to share some helpful information that may save you an unnecessary service call.
Many homeowners become concerned when they see their thermostat climb to 76-78° during extreme heat, but in most cases, this is completely normal.
Most residential air conditioning systems are designed and sized to maintain approximately 75°F indoors when it’s around 92°F outside. When outdoor temperatures climb well above that design temperature, your system will likely run continuously and may not be able to maintain your normal thermostat setting. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong—it simply means your system is working as hard as it can.
At Blown Away HVAC, we’d rather educate our community than charge you a diagnostic fee just to tell you your system is operating normally.
Here are a few ways to help your AC keep up during this heat wave:
✅ Keep blinds and curtains closed, especially on sunny windows.
✅ Set your thermostat and leave it alone. Constantly lowering the temperature won’t cool your home faster—it only makes your system run longer.
✅ Keep exterior doors and windows closed as much as possible.
✅ Limit cooking with the oven or stove during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Replace your air filter if it’s dirty.
✅ Avoid running heat-producing appliances during peak afternoon hours when possible.
✅ Make sure your outdoor unit has at least 2 feet of clearance and isn’t blocked by grass, weeds, or debris.
If your system stops cooling completely, is blowing warm air, is freezing up, or the indoor temperature continues climbing well into the 80s, then it’s time to give us a call at 336-914-3036!
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and remember—your AC is probably working just as hard as you are in this heat! ☀️❄️
