We are honored to have been playing host to Boom Supersonic on our campus and are very much looking forward to their launch date of breaking the sound barrier of XB1. Stay tuned! You may even see our aircraft playing a small roll on launch date👀

It’s almost time. We’re targeting January 28 for XB-1 to break the sound barrier.

Watch the test flight livestream at 7:45am PST/10:45am EST/3:45pm GMT, on boomsupersonic.com/xb-1 with hosts Mike Bannister, former Chief Concorde Pilot for British Airways, Nick Sheryka, XB-1 Chief Flight Test Engineer, and Greg Krauland Boom Advisor/former Chief Engineer.

Curious about how we’re livestreaming flights? Here’s how the XB-1 team adapted a $500 Starlink Mini antenna to livestream from our Northrop T-38 chase aircraft, allowing everyone to see the flight in real-time. https://boomsupersonic.com/flyby/the-starlink-connection-xb-1-flight-tests-harness-satellite-internet-streaming

Forging the future of flight in aerospace!

Today, Boom announced the successful flight of XB-1, the world's first independently developed supersonic jet, at the Mojave Air & Space Port in Mojave, California. Flown by Chief Test Pilot Bill "Doc" Shoemaker, XB-1's inaugural flight marks a major milestone toward the return of supersonic travel onboard Overture - Boom's supersonic airliner. The XB-1 program provides the foundation for the design and development of Overture, while establishing a safety-first culture in engineering and manufacturing.

"Today, XB-1 took flight in the same hallowed airspace where the Bell X-1 first broke the sound barrier in 1947." said Blake Scholl, founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic. "I've been looking forward to this flight since founding Boom in 2014, and it marks the most significant milestone yet on our path to bring supersonic travel to passengers worldwide."
