Maintenance Mechanic
St. Cloud, MN
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 6:50 AM – 3:30 PM, hours may vary, & overtime may be required
Report to: Maintenance Manager

Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic is primarily responsible for the daily maintenance and fabrication of industrial equipment used in the recycling industry.
Essential Duties
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.)
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
- Cleans and inspects laboratory furnace; treats water with proper chemicals.
- Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds.
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly inspection checklists on facility and building equipment maintenance procedures; Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Completes and maintain record of weekly inspection of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations and universal waste storage areas to ensure continued compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations.
- Perform Lockout/Tagout per company procedure when applicable. Participate in annual review and training of Lockout/Tagout procedure with Plant Manager and EHS Manager.
- Installs electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed.
- May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security.
- May install computer cable.
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures.
- Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.
- May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
- Ability to weld, plasma cut and fabricate with steel and aluminum.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Preferred Experience and Education
- 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance in a manufacturing and/or industrial setting
- Two-year degree in maintenance, facilities management, or related subject
- Skilled with hand and power tools
- Experience with metallurgical laboratory equipment such as scrubber systems, furnaces, fume hoods and more is a plus.
- Experience with safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout Authorized Personnel, Machine Guarding and Preventative Maintenance is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License
- Forklift Operator Certificate/License
