Summer Intern Spotlight: Jerry Holt
Jerry is a Civil Engineering student from the Class of 2026-27 with his sights set on becoming a Project Manager. This is the second summer Jerry has interned with DCL.
This summer, he’s worked on projects including I-85, Yancey, Concord, and Saluda, learning firsthand about girder setting, deck pours, grade work, decking, detours, handrails, submittals, project planning, and estimating.
Outside of work, you’ll find Jerry enjoying hunting and sports.
We’re glad to have Jerry on the DCL team and appreciate his hard work this summer!

Intern Spotlight: Zoe Lagunju:
We’re proud to recognize Zoe, a summer intern working on our several projects. Zoe is pursuing a B.S. in Engineering Technology and Construction Management and will graduate in December 2026, with a goal of becoming a Project Manager.
Throughout the summer, Zoe has worked alongside our Project Management team, assisting with daily project activities, supporting field operations during concrete pours, and helping create a social/recuperation space for field crews. Her willingness to learn, positive attitude, and hands-on approach have made her a valuable part of the team.
Outside of work, Zoe enjoys running, sketching, swimming, spending time at the beach with her family, and the occasional karaoke session.
We’re thrilled that Zoe will continue working with Dane part-time this fall as she finishes her degree, and we’re even more excited to share that she has accepted a full-time position with Dane Construction following graduation this December. We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish with our team.

What a great turnout at our Quarterly New Hire Orientation this past Friday! With one of the biggest classes we’ve ever had, the room was full of talented individuals ready to make an impact. Please join us in welcoming Lucas Fields to the team!
Lucas is a rising sophomore Civil Engineering major at Morehouse College (Class of 2029) in Atlanta, GA, and this summer marks his first internship in the construction industry.
Lucas has gained valuable field experience working on the I-85 North bridge deck and approach ramps and is now expanding his knowledge in the office, where he is learning more about project operations and management. His long-term goal is to become a Project Manager, and he is eager to learn every aspect of the construction process.
Outside of work, Lucas enjoys studying Chinese, building custom PCs, cooking, and writing.
We’re excited to have Lucas on board and look forward to seeing all he accomplishes throughout his internship. Welcome, Lucas!

Yesterday, one of our veteran supervisors sent this photo and said we need more employees like Nick (Nicos). This morning, that message really stuck with me. Our future is bright when you get the right mix of people together. When hardworking young guys and gals show up ready to learn, put in the effort, and enjoy what they’re doing—alongside seasoned, experienced guys who’ve seen it all—that’s where something special happens.
Knowledge gets passed down, skills get built, and real, lasting friendships are made.
There’s a lot of experience out there in this world, and there’s incredible young talent ready to rise. The key is bringing them together.
That’s when the magic happens.
