PART 3 — THE WORK YOU WON’T SEE

Some of our best work is the work you'll never see.

The T&J panel bed for this engineered system was installed within the lake buffer according to the approved design. Once the system components, piping, controls, and dispersal area were complete, everything was backfilled and the site restored.

What started as excavation and specialized septic components eventually became part of the finished landscape.

Proud of how this Lake Norman project came together.

PART 2 — WHAT’S THAT GREEN BOX?

That green box will eventually disappear underground—but it’s doing an important job.

It’s part of the pretreatment system installed on this Lake Norman project.

In simple terms, pretreatment adds another treatment stage before wastewater is sent to the dispersal area. Our team installed and plumbed the treatment components according to the site-specific engineered design.

These are the details most people never see once construction is finished.

PART 1 — NOT YOUR AVERAGE SEPTIC INSTALL

Not your average septic installation.

This Lake Norman new construction called for a pretreated septic system with a T&J panel bed within the lake buffer, built to a site-specific engineered design.

This is the kind of project we enjoy—specialized system, challenging site, and a strong team bringing the design to life.

🚨 Septic alarm going off? It doesn’t necessarily mean your entire system has failed.

On this Mooresville service call, the system wasn’t pumping down properly. We tested the control panel, floats, electrical connections, and pump operation to find the actual problem.

The culprit: a mechanically failed effluent pump.

For anyone new to septic systems, this pump helps move wastewater from the pump tank to the next stage of the system. When it stops working properly, the liquid level can rise and trigger an alarm.

We replaced the failed pump and waterproof connections, cleaned the pressure filter, cleared the lines, checked the central valve box, and tested the system before leaving.

The important takeaway: a septic alarm is a warning—not a diagnosis.

🚨 **Septic alarm going off? It doesn’t necessarily mean your entire system has failed.**

Think of the alarm as your septic system saying: **“Something needs attention.”** The real job is figuring out what.

On this Mooresville service call, the system wasn’t pumping down properly. We tested the control panel, floats, electrical connections, and pump operation.

The culprit? **A mechanically failed effluent pump.**

For those newer to septic systems, the effluent pump helps move wastewater from the pump tank to the next stage of the system. If it stops doing its job, the liquid level can rise and trigger the alarm.

We replaced the failed pump and waterproof connections, then cleaned the pressure filter, cleared the lines, checked the central valve box, and tested the system before leaving.

**Septic alarms are warnings—not diagnoses.** Finding the actual cause matters.

🚜 EQUIPMENT SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY

**One job. Three machines.**

Each machine has a different job.

➡️ **Excavator** — digs and moves dirt.

➡️ **Track loader** — moves dirt, grades, and works around the job site.

➡️ **Mini skid steer** — gets into tight spots where the bigger machines may not fit.

Big or small, having the right machine for the job makes a difference.

Now it’s your turn:

**Operators and installers — you can only pick ONE of these three machines for the day. Which one are you taking?**

Excavator, track loader, or mini skid steer?

Most homeowners only see the lid. Installers know the real story is underneath it. 👇

We were called in to troubleshoot an existing septic system. After reviewing the available records and inspecting the system in the field, we found a damaged black fitting that needed to be replaced.

We identified the problem, replaced the damaged component, and corrected the system.

For the septic installers following us: **What’s the first thing you check when you open up an existing system that isn’t operating correctly?**

Drop your answer in the comments. We’re interested to hear how other installers approach troubleshooting in the field.

Good projects start with good site prep. 🚜

Before a new addition can go up, the ground has to be ready.

Our crew dug out the marked area, made extra room for the next phase, and planned low spots to help water drain away.

We also found and worked around existing lines in the ground.

It may look like moving dirt, but every cut has a purpose.

Precision Excavation provides excavation, grading, septic, and site prep across the Piedmont of North Carolina.

Sometimes you have to dig to find the answer.

On this job, we worked with the county to help locate an existing septic system.

We removed gravel in key areas and dug test holes so the ground could be checked. It takes careful digging and a good plan to find what is hidden below the surface.

Good site work starts with knowing what is under the ground.

Precision Excavation handles septic, grading, and site work across the Piedmont of North Carolina.

Teamwork makes the job move faster. 💪

In this video, our dozer and excavator are working together to keep the job moving.

The excavator loads and places the dirt where it needs to go. The dozer spreads it, grades it, and keeps the site clean. When both machines work together, we spend less time moving dirt twice and more time getting the job finished right.

Good planning and good teamwork make every job run smoother.

Installers: Which machine would you rather run—the dozer or the excavator? Tell us why in the comments!
