Happy Saturday Folks! We are sharing our article about recent collaborations with local contractors. It's called "Push King Trailer with MCK Services: A Success Story." Enjoy.
For the week of September 21, 2020, the Push King Trailer worked with the MCK asphalt paving crew on Uvas Road, Morgan Hill in the San Francisco Bay area. The 20+ ton trailer hauled asphalt to the job from Sunol, California, integrating into the paving workflow without a hitch. The many trees and overhead wires along this rural road are overhead strike hazards to conventional dump trucks, and operators have to watch their surroundings carefully to avoid damaging their equipment. The Push King Trailer horizontal ejector dumping system is the solution we created for this problem as it never raises vertically, and as intended can never come in contact with anything above the roof of the tractor’s cab driving down the road.
On this job, the asphalt paver operator strategically positioned the order of incoming dump trucks, such that the Push King was emptying asphalt when paving under low hanging trees and sections where the road is off-camber. This allocation saved time as they did not have to stop for the conventional dump trucks to reposition their dump body dumping beneath the overhead obstructions.
Job completion time was reduced and jobsite safety improved on this asphalt paving job because of the Push King Trailer’s horizontal ejector system. Jose DeLatorre, foreman for MCK Services who has 22-years experience paving, explained, “I’ve had dump trucks flip over in the paver. The Push King Trailer lets our safety be a #1 priority. You don’t raise the box and you can’t flip. The Push King Trailer pushes out without spilling. We don’t have to clean out the paver track sides like we have to with the dump trucks. Each time we stop to clean out the paver tracks it is between five and 10 minutes. Over the course of a day we do that 15-20 times. The Push King Trailer removes this down time from paving.”
Jose explained further that not only does the Push King Trailer place the asphalt in the hopper in a controlled manner that will not overtake it, spilling over the sides, it also eliminates the need for a required dump truck cleanout after the load is dumped into the paver. After every dumped load by a conventional dump truck, the truck has to be cleaned out and a skid steer or a worker on the ground has to clean up, move, and dispose of the leftover spillage. Jose explained, “It takes between two and five minutes for a dump truck clean out. We have between 80 to 100 loads of asphalt a day.” With one minute afforded for cleanout on 80 dump truck loads, the lost time is at a minimum of 80 minutes per day. This step of cleaning up after every load on the job site is not required for the Push King Trailer, as it pushes clean every load.
“The Push King Trailer will change everything,” Jose declared, as it is the next level in efficiency, saving money for operation and dramatically improving safety for the workers on paving spreads.
The Push King Trailer’s value is proven in the field on the paving jobsite. The multiplier effect of time savings is exponential. Schedule a demonstration for your team today! (408) 909-5464.
