Avista Utilities wants to hear from YOU, Wednesday, February 24:

Avista is seeking public input and is available to answer questions regarding its Natural Gas and Electric Integrated Resource Plans. The plans are called IRPs and set a strategic course of how the utility will serve energy needs for the next 20 years. In this webinar you will learn more about Avista's plans and be able to provide comments, ask questions, and learn how you can participate in Avista's planning processes. Specifically we will have five sessions seeking feedback on electric reliability and generation choices, natural gas system planning, energy efficiency and demand response opportunities, affordability and equity, and environmental considerations.

There's a storm a'comin'! Please be sure to keep heating system exhaust lines, heat pump outdoor units, and chimneys clear of excess snow build up for optimum system functioning and safety.

SNOW IS COMING: The National Weather Service says a storm system will bring snow to the southern portions of Washington and the Idaho Panhandle over the next several days. The NWS says the snow will come in two rounds... Round one will begin on Thursday afternoon, lasting through Friday afternoon. Round two will arrive late Friday and last through Saturday morning. The expected snow accumulations for the region through Saturday are shown on the map.

Um...now would be a good time to change out that furnace filter, pull out the electric blanket, and verify that you have an ample supply of coffee, cocoa, and any other drinks that help you stay warm! In the coming days we have some proper-cold temperatures forecast!

Also, frozen water pipes are no fun! Here are a few tips to keep yours from freezing:
• Leave cabinet doors under sinks open especially if they are located on exterior walls.
• Set thermostats no lower than 55 degrees even if the house is unoccupied.
• Do not remove snow from the tops of water meter boxes unless it creates a safety hazard. An accumulation of snow will help insulate the water meter service and prevent freezing.
• Do not open water meter boxes, as this will allow any natural heat to escape and may contribute to freezing of the water service.

Please call the Water Department for any problem with the water meter or emergency water shutoff at 208-882-3122.
