We’re deep in commissioning at our Moses Lake plant, and we’re grateful to the Port of Moses Lake for highlighting our progress and local impact. We’re proud to be a part of a community that shares our vision and determination to bring high-quality manufacturing jobs to the region and strengthen the U.S. battery supply chain from the ground up.

Something big is happening in Moses Lake. You can feel it in the air — a sense of momentum, of something new taking shape. Sila Nanotechnologies is in the final stretch of commissioning its new manufacturing plant. While production hasn’t started yet, the impact is already being felt.
The facility will produce Titan Silicon™, a next-generation battery material designed to supercharge electric vehicles and enable radical innovation in products ranging from phones and wearables to drones and robotics. Sila Moses Lake will be the first and largest silicon anode mass production plant in the U.S., coming online this year. And it's being built right here in Central Washington.
“This is more than just standing up a plant,” said Rosendo Alvarado, Senior Plant Director. “This is laying the foundation for something that can change the way the world thinks about energy, and we’re doing it in partnership with the Moses Lake community. That’s something we take to heart every single day.”
Dan Roach, Executive Director of the Port of Moses Lake, said, “The Port district has long been at the heart of manufacturing, and we are thrilled to support and collaborate with Sila as they continue to push the boundaries of what's possible, bringing both jobs and cutting-edge advancements to our region.”
Commissioning Today, Powering Tomorrow
Sila is currently deep in the commissioning phase. The team is testing systems, running checks, and fine-tuning every part of the operation to get it ready for production later this year. Everyone on-site is focused, energized, and committed to doing it right.
“This is a critical moment for Sila and Moses Lake,” said Chris Dougher, VP of Operations. “All of the planning, engineering, procurement, and construction is coming together as we move farther into commissioning our plant. It’s been an incredible effort between Sila, our construction partners, and the local trades to make this happen. We continue to be on track to move into processing our material later this year with an eye on full production by year end.”
Initial plant production will generate enough Titan Silicon™ to power hundreds of thousands of electric vehicles or hundreds of millions of consumer devices. It will run on clean, renewable hydroelectric power from the region, marking a major milestone for the U.S. battery supply chain and for Moses Lake.
A Community-Driven Future
Even before operations begin, the plant is already bringing new opportunities to the area. About 100 people have joined the Sila team so far, including engineers, operators, technicians, and support staff. That number will continue to grow.
“This project has brought significant construction work and long-term operational jobs to Moses Lake,” said Dougher. “We’re building a lasting company, and we’re doing it with people who care deeply about their work and their community.”
The plant is also creating momentum throughout town. Local businesses are seeing more activity, new partnerships are forming, and there’s a renewed sense of possibility in the region.
“We’ve had lifelong residents come up to us and say they haven’t seen this kind of excitement here in a long time,” said Alvarado. “That kind of support keeps us going. The connection with the community is what drives everything we’re doing.”
Just the Beginning
Commissioning this plant is a huge step forward, but it’s only the beginning of Sila’s journey in Moses Lake. The team is already planning for the future — more hiring, more growth, and a long-term partnership with the region.
“We’re here to stay,” said Alvarado. “This isn’t just a project. It’s a commitment to innovation, to clean energy, and to the people who are helping bring it all to life.”
Production may not have started yet, but the energy is already here. You can feel it in the team, in the town, and in the promise of what’s coming next.
“We’re not just commissioning a plant,” said Dougher. “We’re building a team rooted in the Moses Lake community.”
Roach said, “It’s truly an honor to witness our community's exciting role in next-generation energy technology. We are eager to see the long-term benefits it will bring to our economy and beyon
