Designed by Confluence, the Krause Gateway Center in downtown Des Moines, Iowa was designed to fit the unique city grid. Kafka Granite provided a custom combination of Beige Blend Stabilized Pathway Aggregate and Botticino Stabilized Pathway Aggregate for the plaza surrounding the building. The site includes hundreds of trees and other plants that transform this busy intersection into an urban oasis.

Project Spotlight: Richard G. Lugar Plaza — Indianapolis, Indiana 🌿

Designed by Rundell Ernstberger Associates, this vibrant public square on the south side of Indianapolis' City-County Building has earned its reputation as "downtown's backyard." Featuring a splash pad, leisure swings, and an event lawn with capacity for 1,500 people, the plaza is a masterclass in designing for community.

Two raised, wooded areas anchor the space with warmth and texture — accentuated by Kafka's Antique Rose Stabilized Pathway Aggregate and moveable bistro tables and chairs. The result is an inviting, natural feel in the heart of an urban environment.
