Take a moment to recognize the warning signs of heatstroke:
- High body temperature
- Headache or nausea
- Hot, dry skin
- Slurred speech
- Rapid, strong pulse
- Confusion or unconsciousness

Heatstroke is a medical emergency, and it can happen faster than you think. Stay safe by drinking water often, taking breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and checking on kids, older adults and pets. If you suspect heatstroke, call 911 and move to a cooler place.

MCPU Leadership Remains Strong

Following the passing of long-time CEO and Chairman of the Board, Terry L. Bruce. The Mt Carmel Public Utility Co. Board of Directors took the following actions at the May 15, 2026, board meeting to ensure continuity of leadership and provide clear executive authority.

Director and retired President, Margaret Felts, was appointed to serve as Board Chair. Felts has continued to serve as a Director of the Company since her retirement in January 2020.

Director and current President & Chief Operating Officer, David W. James II, was appointed to the position of CEO & President. James took over as President & COO upon Felts’ retirement and worked directly with CEO & Chairman Bruce until his passing in April 2026.
