Childres Bobcats getting some practice time in at Mallet Event Center. Truly a multi-purpose venue.

This is Texas.

This is small town down home gritty Texas football.

The Childress Bobcats needed somewhere to practice.

So they found somewhere.

Beginning this year, Texas schools are required to follow UIL’s new Wet Bulb Globe Temperature guidelines. The purpose is important — keeping kids safe in the brutal Texas heat.

Not every football program has an air-conditioned turf field sitting behind the field house.

There are hundreds of small schools scattered across this state where coaches and administrators are going to have to figure it out.

And this is what “figuring it out” looked like in Childress.

Shoutout to all our rural educators and coaches figuring it out daily….

Even when it means going in the barn!!

We had the opportunity to catch the Archer Events Center between rains last week and the site offered some really nice views with the weather backdrop. In celebration of fair week for Laramie County Events, here are some recent and throw back memories. Congratulations to all of those that worked so hard to bring this to the people of Laramie County and the surrounding communities. Turn up the volume!! This place is awesome and the sound is amazing. If you are anywhere near Western Oklahoma you have got to visit Salt Fork Event Center - truly a one-of-a-kind venue with something for everyone.

Featuring Priefert horse stalls, two competition arenas, and so much more, the facility is completely outfitted to host the best livestock shows in the region. So happy for our friends in Alva America 🇺🇸.

Salt Fork Event Center is proud to welcome the Alva Bull Battle Trade Show & Mini Bull Riding today! Both of these events today are FREE!

First Round kicks off at 11 AM
Top two rides advance to the 7 PM performance!

With over 50 youth riders signed in, young cowboys are coming in from Texas, Kansas, and right here in Oklahoma to compete.

Come early and stay all day, enjoy great shopping, delicious food and treats, and all the excitement leading up to the Bull Battle tonight at 7 PM.

It’s a full day of action you won’t want to miss. See you at the arena!

Let’s go Alva! The first of many events to come to NW Oklahoma starts tonight!
