Cem Torun spent two years in pre-med because his parents wanted a doctor in the family. A volunteer shift at a palliative oncology center changed his mind. He taught himself to code instead, wanting to fix healthcare's problems at a scale one patient couldn't reach.

Four months into what became Commure's Ambient AI, it was just him and an unproven concept. He's now VP of Engineering for Ambient AI, leading a team of more than 40. "Commure's instinct is to build leaders from the ground up and give them the support to grow into it," he says.

"I don't feel like I could call myself a physician and look other physicians in the eye if I didn't have a clinical practice myself."

That's Dr. Jamie Colbert, our Chief Medical Officer and part of Commure's clinical council, on why the exam room stays sacred even as AI enters healthcare. The council brings together clinicians who still see patients regularly. That active practice shapes what we build, what we prioritize, and how we talk to customers about where AI actually fits in care.

When your strategy team still practices, you understand clinician hesitancy. You know what builds trust in busy workflows and catch what matters before it reaches scale.

We sat down with Jamie to talk about trust, accountability, bias, and why the humanistic component of healthcare isn't optional: https://na2.hubs.ly/H079XQc0

30% of patient calls to health systems never get answered. Multiply that across a call center handling tens of thousands of calls a month, and the math turns into millions of dollars worth of lost revenue, plus thousands of patients waiting longer for care or never getting seen at all.

In her new Forbes piece, Deepika Bodapati, COO of Commure, breaks down why the call center is where patient access breaks first, and what changes once an AI agent answers every call, resolves it, and writes the outcome into the EHR in real time.

Health systems running Commure's AI Call Center Agents are seeing 50%+ improvement in schedule rates, and a 50%+ reduction in support labor costs. One organization cut call abandonment from 30% to 1% in six months.

Read Deepika's piece:

Commure’s AI Call Center Agents answer calls 24/7, automate scheduling and intake, boost schedule rates 50%+, cut labor costs, and improve patient access.

Referral response time decides which home health agency gets the patient, and most intake teams are still competing against fax queues and manual spreadsheets to win that race.

We built Commure Orchestrator for Home Health to close that gap. It captures referrals from every channel, structures the clinical and payer data automatically, and runs eligibility and service area checks before anyone touches the file. Communication across intake, clinical, and scheduling stays in one queue, and accepted referrals write directly back into the EHR with no manual entry on the back end.

Orchestrator is already processing hundreds of thousands of referral tasks autonomously across home health, ambulatory, and specialty care settings.

Dr. Darin Brannan and his team at Bethany Children’s used to wait one to two weeks between writing a note and getting it signed. With Commure Ambient AI, that gap has closed to near real time, and he's seen higher satisfaction from his end users too.

KLAS Research heard the same thing from Commure customers across the board: a 93.3 overall performance score, with 100% of those surveyed saying they'd buy it again.

Healthcare pays a work tax. Tanay Tandon put a number on it: roughly $1 trillion a year.
The math is brutal. Providers lose 15 to 30 minutes before every visit assembling the clinical picture, then another 15 to 30 documenting it. Add prior auth, claim resubmission, and billing complexity, and the industry spends 10 to 15 percent of every dollar just to transact.

To put it in perspective, the rest of the economy spends about 3 percent.

That was the opening thesis at Commure Nexus in Boston, which brought together 60+ healthcare executives from MEDITECH, HCA Healthcare, Willis Knighton Health, Lifepoint Health, WellNow Urgent Care, Summit Behavioral Healthcare, Nathan Littauer Hospital and more.

Every session and roundtable that followed traced back to that gap. See the full recap and video below: https://www.commure.com/blog/commure-nexus-never-stop-inventing?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organic+social&utm_campaign=facebook&utm_content=08072026

Providers spend 10-20 minutes prepping for a 5-10 minute visit. Most of that time goes to hunting down labs, imaging, and missing documents one screen at a time.

That pattern became obvious to Shailee Samar, Head of Product, who spent weeks shadowing providers in their daily workflows. It's what led Commure to build Patient360: a longitudinal data foundation that unifies a patient's full clinical history into one structured picture, powering specialty-tailored pre-visit summaries powered by AI.

Now tens of thousands of providers use it. Teams that once prepped charts a week out can review the summary 2 minutes before walking in. One practice built it into their daily huddle.

Providers across the country are now using Commure Patient360 to walk into visits already caught up. Here's what the first rollouts taught us about pre-visit prep.

Daniel Hickey wanted to be a doctor. Organic Chemistry convinced him otherwise.

He ended up building hospitals instead. Literally: headwalls at NYU Langone, nursing stations at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Then he joined Commure to work on the part no one had fixed yet.
His take on the job: "Demolition is easy. Building is hard. Anybody can tear down or point out faults. The real skill is reserved for the creators."

Two years in, he's still looking for the gnarliest problems he can find. He fits right in at Commure.

Back in high school, our Head of R&D, Ash Bhat, walked into a hackathon, decided to hack Snapchat, and left having reverse-engineered the private API, trained an ML model to generate convincing fake accounts, and friended 4.6 million users in a single day.

Snapchat's CEO, Evan Spiegel, showed up in person. They had lunch the next day.

Documentation quality has a direct line to reimbursement. A 0.01 improvement in average acuity level is worth an estimated $500,000 in annual revenue.

WellNow Urgent Care saw a 10% lift in E/M levels after rolling out Commure Ambient AI across 600+ providers. That lift comes from capturing the care being delivered, coded accurately. The full case study breaks down how they got there: https://na2.hubs.ly/H06FMXp0
