Would you stop the job, even if everyone else thought it was safe?
In my last post, I talked about how experience can sometimes make us too comfortable around powered haulage equipment.
But here's something else worth thinking about.
How many times have we seen someone standing a little too close to a haul truck, walking through a blind spot, or taking a shortcut because we've always done it this way? And how many times did nobody say anything?
That's where leadership matters. Not in the safety meeting. Not in the paperwork. But in that moment when someone needs to speak up, even if it means stopping the job.
I challenge every supervisor and mine leader this week:
Dont just ask your crew to work safely. Show them youre willing to stop the work to keep them safe.
Production can wait. People cant be replaced.
