Before you crank up that heater for the first cold morning, Mike wants to remind you of three things:

🔥 Have your heating system inspected. A professional checkup can help catch potential problems before they become bigger issues.

🚨 Check your carbon monoxide detectors. Carbon monoxide is odorless and invisible, so working detectors are an important part of keeping your family safe.

🏠 Test your smoke detectors. Make sure they're working properly and replace batteries when needed.

As we head into another week of work, we’re reminded that there’s something to be thankful for in the ability to work hard, provide for our families, and enjoy the fruits of that labor.

Ecclesiastes 3:13- "And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God."

Whatever this week has in store, we’re thankful for the work in front of us and the people we get to serve along the way.

Here’s to a good week ahead. Work hard, be thankful, and above all, give God the glory. 🙏

🔥 LET’S ASK MIKE: Should I test my heat before it actually gets cold?

Mike says: Absolutely.

We’re still a few weeks away from those really cold Oklahoma mornings, which makes right now a good time to turn your heat on and make sure everything is working like it should.

Let it run for a bit. Make sure you’re getting warm air, listen for anything that doesn’t sound right, and pay attention to any unusual smells that don’t go away after the system has been running.

Why do it now?

Because finding out your heater has a problem on a mild fall day is a whole lot better than finding out when it’s 30° outside and everybody else is calling for service, too.

If something doesn’t seem right, Air Service Company is the home of the $29 service call. We’ll come out, figure out what’s going on, and let you know what your options are.

Test it now. You’ll be glad you did when that first Oklahoma cold snap shows up. 👍

🔥 Turned your heater on for the first time and noticed that familiar “burnt” smell?

Before you worry, a little dusty or slightly burnt smell is usually pretty normal the first time your heat runs for the season.

After sitting unused for several months, dust can collect on parts of your heating system. When everything heats up again, that dust burns off and can create an odor for a little while. In most cases, it should fade as the system runs.

But there are a few smells worth paying attention to.

If you notice a strong electrical smell, burning plastic, visible smoke, or an odor that doesn't go away or gets stronger, turn the system off and have an HVAC professional take a look.

The main thing is to know what's normal for your system. If something smells different enough to make you stop and wonder, there's nothing wrong with having it checked.
