Get ready for the call!

The most recent model data has continued to trend higher with peak wind gust this afternoon and early evening. Wind gusts up to 60-65 mph are expected near Lake Erie and across the Niagara Frontier. Isolated wind gusts up to 70+ mph can`t be ruled out northeast of Lake Erie between 3pm -7pm. This set-up is similar to the storm at the end of December, where the strongest winds were channeling up Lake Erie and into the Buffalo area. This is where a 79MPH gust was recorded at the Buffalo Airport.

Here comes the wind! 💨

A period of breezy to gusty winds will be likely on Friday as our next system crosses the region. Wind gust will be strongest along the Lake Erie Shoreline and the Chautauqua Ridge where gust of 40-45 mph are possible. This is just below Wind Advisory Criteria (Sustained winds 31-39 mph, for more than 1 hour - and/or wind gusts 46-57 mph for any duration), though if gust trend higher, the NWS may issue a Wind Advisory for Friday.

We will also see some rain through the first half of Friday with expected temperatures in the 50s, possibly even near 60 if some afternoon sunshine breaks out!

🚨 SEVERE WEATHER SIGNAL FRIDAY & BEYOND 🚨

The Storm Prediction Center has now outlined this area five days out, which is a strong indicator that confidence is increasing in a potential severe weather setup beginning Friday.

At this range, outlines are not common unless there is a clear, consistent signal in the data.

Here’s what stands out:
• A strong upper level trough is forecast to move east
• Cold air pushing in will interact with warmer, unstable air ahead of it
• This setup often supports organized thunderstorms capable of severe weather

⚠️ Important: This system is expected to be progressive, meaning the severe weather threat could carry east into Saturday and even Sunday as the trough moves across the region.

As we move closer:
• The highlighted area will likely become broader and more refined
• Threat levels and timing will be better defined
• Specific hazards (damaging winds, tornado potential, heavy rainfall) will be clearer

This does not mean severe weather is guaranteed for everyone but it does signal a pattern that deserves close monitoring.

Now is the time to:
✔️ Review your severe weather plan
✔️ Ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings
✔️ Stay weather-aware through the end of the week

📞 WeatherCall Reminder:
WeatherCall is not an app it’s a service where I personally call you when severe weather or warnings are threatening your immediate area, often before apps alert.

Stay alert. Stay prepared. Updates will continue as confidence increases.

NEXT BIG WEATHER MAKER ‼

The latest model guidance is zeroing in on a dual-threat storm system, bringing a renewed and legitimate risk for severe weather 🌪️ across the Lower Mississippi Valley. While the SPC has not yet issued an official risk, trends will continue to be monitored closely as we approach the end of the week.

On the colder side of the system, models are also suggesting the potential for a significant winter storm, with some areas possibly facing blizzard ❄️ conditions.
