What’s next for investment casting? 🤔

We’re looking forward to finding out alongside colleagues from across the industry at the Investment Casting Institute’s 73rd (!!) Annual Technical Conference & Equipment Expo, October 25–28 in Grand Rapids.

Eagle Precision Cast Parts is excited to be attending, and we’re especially looking forward to the conversations that happen when so much of the industry gets together in one place.

See you in October!

Why does slag come out as a cohesive chunk instead of flowing like the metal beneath it?

The slag phase typically has a different melting range, viscosity, density, and surface tension from the alloy. At the melt's surface—where heat loss is greatest—it can become highly viscous or partially solidified.

Depending on the melting practice, a slag coagulant may be introduced to bind fine, dispersed oxides into a more cohesive and skimmable chunk.

Where minds meet metal. ⚔️🔥

Cast in Steel's new YouTube series premiered last night, bringing together college teams from across the country for a challenge built around creativity, engineering, metalcasting, and raw skill.

This year’s challenge: George Washington’s sword.

Meet the teams, see their approaches take shape, and follow the competition toward the ultimate test ➡️ https://hubs.li/Q04p6Vbq0

The story of the United States has always been one of building and improving.

For 250 years, manufacturers have transformed raw materials into the products that power our progress.

This Fourth of July, we're celebrating the people who continue that tradition through innovation, precision, and hard work—at the Eagle Group, those people have defined our growth for nearly 50 years.

Happy Independence Day!

A casting's geometry may be defined by the shell, but its performance is defined by its microstructure.

Long before solidification begins, controlled alloy additions determine a casting's mechanical properties.

This is where alloying starts. To learn more about what controlled alloying leads to, check out our free e-book Metal Properties and Their Applications in Metalcasting and CNC Machining: https://hubs.li/Q04mVRcz0

What does quality have to do with safety?

Everything.

In the utility industry, components like mounting brackets, piston crowns, and structural housings support power distribution, water management, and telecom infrastructure. When those parts fail, the consequences can escalate from service disruptions to public safety hazards and direct threats to human life.

Our ISO 9001:2015 certification and in-process inspection protocols exist for exactly these applications — parts that have to perform, every time.

This week for National Safety Month, we're highlighting an important part of manufacturing that goes on behind the scenes: the safety measures built into every single step of the foundry process.

This video features several operations at Eagle Precision Cast Parts, including:

✔️ Mixing
✔️ Pouring
✔️ Cutoff
✔️ Grinding
✔️ Welding

Each task has its own unique hazards, which is why the right PPE, proper training, and safe work practices are essential at every stage of production.

Safety isn't a single step in the process—it's built into every one.

🎬 Coming Soon!

Cast In Steel Season 1 premieres July 9 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.

The SFSA series follows university teams as they design, manufacture, and test historically inspired George Washington sword replicas using modern manufacturing and metalcasting methods.

We're especially proud that the Eagle Group was again part of this year's challenge, working alongside talented students eager to take their metalcasting skills to the next level.

A big thank you to the Steel Founders Society of America and everyone involved for investing in the next generation of foundry professionals.

We can't wait to watch!
