The right alloy? The right casting process? The right foundry? Missteps or shortcuts here will make or break your finished part.

One of our most popular resources is back—UPDATED AND EXPANDED—to help you make the right decisions.

Our free Buyer’s Guide to Purchasing Raw and Machined Cast Products covers essential purchasing decisions: defining part requirements, choosing an alloy and casting process, planning for machining, and selecting a foundry to execute.

To help you compare quotes fairly, the guide includes comparison charts and supplier guidance for weighing performance, tolerances, production volume, and cost.

This NEW edition also offers:

✔️ Product design guidance, including DFM, casting simulation, and APQP ✔️ New sections on heat treatment and quality control ✔️ Additional material properties ✔️ 3D-printed mold casting ✔️ Expanded guidance on integrating casting and machining

And don't forget to print out our

✅ Casting Supplier Checklist ✅

a resource you can pull out whenever you need to evaluate a new foundry or compare quotes.

Manufacturing Month is officially here 🏭

It’s a month-long opportunity to show kids and adults alike what modern manufacturing looks like—how many different skills and careers it brings together, how modern technology has transformed ergonomics, and what rewarding career paths it offers.

‼️ Be sure to keep an eye out for facility tours in your area this Manufacturing Month ‼️

If you're in the Muskegon area, here are the details for our tours:

Although this month has a special intensity, the Eagle Group commits itself to raising awareness throughout the year: from hands-on metalcasting activities in classrooms to student projects and tours of our foundries and machine shop. Read more about our involvment with workforce development ⬇️

Michigan’s foundry industry faces a growing skills gap—but the solution starts early. Through classroom workshops, student competitions, and community partnerships, the Eagle Group is investing in manufacturing workforce development by introducing the next generation to modern metalcasting and t...

October is ESOP Month, and it’s time to recognize what employee ownership means at the Eagle Group.

Our ESOP gives employees a stake in the company’s success and an opportunity to share in the long-term value they help create.

As company co-founder and board chair, John Workman, puts it:

“We’ve got a mantra to think like an owner, and when you get a share of the profits, you think like an owner.”

Employee ownership is also about the future—keeping jobs here in Muskegon, preserving the culture we’ve built, and creating a sustainable future for the Eagle Group and its employees.

To kick off ESOP Month, hear from John, Mark Fazakerley, and a few of our employee-owners about what employee ownership means to them. 👇

Rapid prototyping expands what foundries can accomplish.

Sometimes traditional tooling is the answer, but increasingly it's complemented by the latest timeline-accelerating technology.

In the latest issue of American Foundry Society’s Casting Source magazine, Eagle Alloy and Humtown Additive discuss how rapid prototyping succeeds when additive manufacturing and conventional foundry processes work together:

🔹 CAD development and reverse engineering
🔹 Gating and solidification simulation
🔹 3D-printed sand molds and cores
🔹 Conventional pouring and finishing
🔹 Dimensional and metallurgical inspection

A little milling, you say?

To machine from billet a part that hasn't been manufactured in decades?
No problem.

The challenge wasn't just making the part—it was figuring out exactly what it needed to be.

For this project, Eagle CNC reverse-engineered a rare component from a 1957 TEMCO aircraft, transforming an obsolete part into a modern CAD model before machining it from billet.

PS: Thanks Kurt Workholding for the great vises.

The story of the United States has always been one of building and improving.

For 250 years, manufacturers have transformed raw materials into the products that power our progress.

This Fourth of July, we're celebrating the people who continue that tradition through innovation, precision, and hard work—at the Eagle Group, those people have defined our growth for nearly 50 years.

Happy Independence Day!

A casting's geometry may be defined by the shell, but its performance is defined by its microstructure.

Long before solidification begins, controlled alloy additions determine a casting's mechanical properties.

This is where alloying starts. To learn more about what controlled alloying leads to, check out our free e-book Metal Properties and Their Applications in Metalcasting and CNC Machining: https://hubs.li/Q04mVSxR0
