Quick neighborly heads-up for anyone in Mustang, Yukon, Tuttle, Bridge Creek, or south OKC thinking about a pergola this year.
There are a handful of decisions most folks don't think to ask about until the build's already underway. Way easier (and a lot less expensive) to talk through them up front, so here's the cheat sheet we walk every homeowner through before we ever pick up a hammer:
- Rafter spacing — open, balanced, or tight. Sounds small, but it's the difference between actually sitting in shade in July or roasting at 4pm.
- Attached vs. freestanding — changes drainage, permitting, and how the patio reads from your kitchen window.
- Rafter ends — straight, angled, or decorative. Tiny detail, but you'll see it every single day.
- Roof choice — polycarbonate, metal, or fully open. Depends on whether you want rain blocked or just sun softened.
- Hardware finish — black brackets pop, clean-and-hidden disappears. No wrong answer, just preference.
- Shade walls — wood walls add privacy from the neighbors' upstairs windows; open sides feel breezy.
We put it all on one page (peek the photo!) so you can flip through and pick what fits your space without anybody pressuring you. Pergolas start at $5,500, and the consult is free. Happy to come walk your yard whenever it works for you.
