There are a lot of new projects happening around Myrtle Beach...
Major Beach Renourishment Project Continues....
Active Construction: A $72 million project to replace sand lost to hurricanes is currently underway, with efforts covering 26 miles of the Grand Strand, including North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Surfside Beach.
Timeline: The project kicked off in early 2026, with work moving through the spring and expected to last around 18 months, operating 24/7 in 1,000-foot sections.
Impact: Portions of the beach will close temporarily. Sand is pumped from offshore onto the beach, where bulldozers spread it, followed by tilling to make the sand softer for sea turtle nesting.
Location Tracking: Residents and visitors can track daily progress and closures via an interactive online tracker provided by the Army Corps of Engineers.
New Developments and Attractions (Opening/Starting Spring 2026)
The PicklePort: A new premier indoor and outdoor pickleball venue is finishing construction for a spring 2026 opening, featuring 12 climate-controlled indoor courts and six covered outdoor courts.
Pelicans Ballpark Renovations: The $20 million renovation of the Pelicans Ballpark, including seating, suites, and a new 9,200-square-foot meeting space, is scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
South Coast Beer Project: A new brewery project in the downtown area is among the new developments opening in 2026.
Performing Arts Theater: The revitalization of the former Broadway Theater into a 300-seat state-of-the-art theater is taking shape in the Arts and Innovation District.
