Advancing veterinary orthopedics through innovation and evidence.
This recently published study reports successful outcomes using a locking proximal femoral anatomic bone plate for stabilization of periprosthetic femoral fractures and greater trochanteric osteotomies in dogs undergoing total hip replacement. We are proud to support technologies that help surgeons address complex cases while contributing to the growing body of clinical evidence in veterinary medicine.

A locking proximal femoral anatomic bone plate provided reliable fixation and successful outcomes in dogs with proximal femoral fractures or elective greater trochanteric osteotomy during total hip replacement.

A broken leg could have ended Bowie's story before it truly began.

When the young sloth bear fractured her femur, her future was uncertain. Serious leg fractures in bears and other large wild animals are notoriously difficult to treat, and many animals do not survive because of the challenges associated with recovery and healing.

Fortunately, Bowie received the specialized care she needed.

Veterinary orthopedic surgeon Duane Robinson, DVM, PhD, DACVS-SA, repaired her fracture using the Vet Systems OrthoLine™ fracture management system, giving the playful cub a chance at a full recovery.

After months of healing alongside her mother, Bowie is back where she belongs, climbing, playing, and wrestling with mom in her habitat at Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo.

Arthrex is proud to support veterinary teams and surgeons who help make remarkable outcomes like this possible.

Meet Maverick the Great 🐾

This 130 lb Cane Corso was adopted from Collier County Domestic Animal Services by Arthrex VP of International Business Brett Jones and his wife. Shortly after coming home, they noticed he had a slight limp. Veterinarian Brian Peters, DVM, diagnosed Maverick with a torn CCL, the canine equivalent of a human ACL.

With the help of the Arthrex Vet Systems team and community partners, Brett and his wife sought out veterinary orthopedic surgeon and Senior Director of Arthrex Vet Systems Nina R. Kieves, DVM, DACVS-SA, DACVSMR, to perform the procedure using surgical planning software and the Arthrex 3.5 mm TPLO broad plate.

“Maverick is a big boy, but no matter what size the dog, we have an appropriate implant in our TPLO Locking Plate System,” said Dr. Kieves. “The surgery went perfectly.”

Maverick is now recovering well and loving life in his new home.
